Well, yeah, but that's kind of in the source material too. What's the purpose of sending a flood to wipe out humans if you need a human to save all the other creatures? ("What does God need with an ark?") Could God have not simply smote all the humans (or just all the corrupt humans) leaving the other creatures untouched?
If you come from Vulcan there's no need to evaluate the moral implications involved in destroying the old matrix in favor of the new one. And here on earth the role model has, in any case, been most assuringly exploited.
