Just how much music is in the actual movie? I just rewatched the film and there barely seemed enough to fill out a short LP, let alone TWO CDs...

that was my first surprise after watching the film for the first time after listening
to the original album for more than 20 years. i think only 20-25 minutes from the original 45 min LP program is in the movie.

most of the tracks from the original soundtrack that was released in 1977 didn't made the final cut,
so what was ended in the film was truncated / left off of what was released in the LP, which had longer version of the tracks.

the new version is actually Live re-creation/re-recording of the Live score performance in Denmark this year + 2nd disc with new recording of music that was originally composed but was never sent to the Director.

There is also other music not by Tangerine Dream used in the movie, pipe organ music by Keith Jarrett that was meshed with the TD score.

This blog has a lot of info and background on the score.

I think it is a similar case to "The Exorcist", where the majority of music on the album also didn't get used in the movie, though in the case of Sorcerer some of it appears briefly, other cues have a more prominent role. I actually don't mind this as it makes the music stand out more.

Now, if you want BAD TD, just look over at Madcap's Flaming Glory or even the Dante arias or Goblin's Club. Jesus that stuff was all kinds of suck big grin

Couldn't disagree more. I love Madcap, and Goblins Club have several dynamite tracks.

They should be dynamited, you mean. big grin
