From the director of Stake Land we have this remake of a Mexican thriller from a couple years ago, rewritten as a southern gothic. The movie is deliberately paced and with no jump scares and beautiful cinematography feels more like a "film" than a horror movie. And it is helped along immensely by the score. I'm not really sure what the situation is here. Director Mickle has collaborated once again with Jeff Grace, but it seems half of the score is written by Philip Mossman and Darren Morris. Don't know how that worked out. This seems like a natural fit for Screamworks but for whatever reason for the time being it seems to be on iTunes only. Anyway, for those who prefer beautiful classy horror scores to giant gothic types, definitely check it out:
