What was the studio thinking back then? The re-teamed ROCKY people, Avildsen & Conti and hit stand up and cheer film and they didn't release Conti's score? Lost opportunity to the max. Conti's ROCKY was a major big Soundtrack release hit. Did they not have any good marketing people back then? I guess not. can you think of more?    Posted:   Apr 15, 2014 - 5:42 PM     By:   dan the man   (Member) Years ago soundtrack releases never made much sense,After the hit 10,-79-6 of the next 7 MANCINI soundtracks don't come out on LP'S, after SCHRIFRIN'S THE AMITYVILLE HORROR-79 only 2 of the next 12 Lalo soundtracks came out on LP. Also another vote for Beverly Hills Cop, especially baffling since the one score track on the album, 'Axel F,' was a MAJOR hit (it hit #3 in 1985). It's almost like someone said, "That Faltermeyer track is blowing up... let's not let that happen again." I would also like "Beverly Hills Cop" - Once again, there is an album track on the Axel F Theme, but no score. "The Heat Is On" is definitely one of the best songs of the 80s! "Top Gun" - a so called "Special Edition" has been released with the a never before released album track of "Memories" - but still no film score. The "Top Gun Anthem" was always an Album Track. Moroder and Faltermeyer got instrumentals tracks on the radio (pun intended), something hardly anybody did then, yet we were denied MORE of what we were obviously willing to buy!    Posted:   Apr 16, 2014 - 6:19 AM     By:   wayfarer_1969   (Member) Like most movie score fans my age, Faltermeyer's scores from Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, Top Gun and Fletch are holy grails when it comes to an official release. Bizarrely, The Running Man got an almost full release and I don't regard it as one of his most exciting scores. It's very good but not as much fun, in my view. I'll also add At Close Range, by Patrick Leonard. I'm acutely aware that most of the score consists of variations of the Madonna song "Live to Tell" but only one score track has ever been released, and that was on the Best of Hemdale compilation.
