Could someone tell me the title of this music? It's the high energy Brazillian piece playing while Warren is giving his adversary "a bit of a talking to". I think it's fantastic. A ton of saxes and soaring trumpets at around 1:25. I bet Alex North would have loved it!

So... anyone know it?

Warning to the faint hearted: the scene has naughty language and Warren Beatty type violence.

It's Cuban music and I think that piece was used on the Mambo Kings soundtrack as well, sans vocals. Hope this steers you in the right direction.

Jim, you chose to accept the mission and I'm grateful! Thanks! smile

Of course... it's Cuban! My bad. Duh.

The version you posted isn't the one used in Bugsy, but I sniffed around youtube and found the one featured in the movie. Here it is for anyone interested.

It has the heavy sax and trumpet. Very cool. The Bugsy mixers obviously loaded the track with tons of EQ, ambience and reverb. Think I'll do the same and remix it for my tastes.

Cheers again Jim.

Hey, extra Bugsy film music trivia - After comparing the original record with the way it appeared in Bugsy, it sounds to me like the movie's music department overlaid a newly recorded Cuban rhythm and bass section onto the track. This way, they could recess the old orchestra in reverb, but bring forward the new rhythm/bass with a much dryer, focussed sound. This would have been otherwise impossible just using the original's fixed mono sound. The new performance matches and syncs perfectly. Now that's CLEVER.

It's a subtle effect and it must have cost a fair penny to achieve. But that's the luxury of big budget film making. I'm always bowled over when I discover examples of film making care and skill like this.

On a meta-type note, the day I saw BUGSY at the cinema, I was quite taken with the scene where Warren-as-Bugsy comes home after pounding some poor gangster sap senseless and he starts eating his pork chops and rice with such vigor. After the film ended, I made my way home through a nasty rainy day and lo and behold my dinner that night was...pork chops and rice. I didn't hurt anyone that day but the tension at home that day was such that I was able to shovel down forkfuls of rice with the energy of Warren's Bugsy Siegel.
