Makes one wonder what LES was thinking when scoring that unique score, Fantastic MOOD. Yes, it's such an outstanding score! Would be so great if a label could release it using the wonders of modern mastering/restoring technology. chriss, why did you wait over five years to quote dan the man? Now he's gone forever, I think. On the issue of PIT AND THE PENDULUM, I would absolutely love to see a (decent) release of this but it does look improbable at the moment. It's one of Baxter's finest. I understand virtually nothing of tech talk, but I suppose that music-only dubbing masters are lost or something? Are these also called "stems"? So if we COULD get a Baxter PIT AND THE PENDULUM, it would be similar to La-La Land's X - THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES? I found that a most laudable effort from LLL, but it always leaves me a bit frustrated. Just thinking out loud, so forgive the ramble... Quartet put out David Lee's magnificent score for the Corman/Price/Poe MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH without sound effects. Again I can't recall offhand, but didn't they use the "music stems", adjusting volume etc to even it out from what was heard in the film behind dialogue and effects? Hang on, the obvious one was eluding me. When Intrada released HOUSE OF USHER in 2011 it was a dream come true for me and many others. I'd just imagined all those decades that it was another score which had been lost. If it hadn't been, why wait until 2011 to release it? I think that the source of that was the music-only masters with cue assemblies and crossfades as heard in the film, but again ironed out during remastering in order to compensate for changes in volume during dialogue scenes etc. So were those the "music stems"? Right well, I've shown myself to be a proper gibbon with those novice's questions. The bottom line is that when HOUSE OF USHER came out it was like a miracle. Is it so unlikely that a similar miracle could happen with PIT AND THE PENDULUM?
