Jankel's score was the replacement score as shown in the US. Zimmer's score was shown in European prints (much like Goldsmith/Tangerine Dream & Legend).
I love this Zimmer score, one of my favorties from him. Would love to see a release of Jankel's music to this film.
Loved the score. It fit the film perfect. I preferred it to Zimmer's.
Those guitar riffs!
I have seen many claims over the years that Chaz's score was pretty much a paraphrase of Pink Floyd material ("Wish You Were Here") in particular. No doubt that this is something that the producers would have asked for.
Agreed. If I'm judging by that track alone, it sounds nothing like Pink Floyd in any incarnation. But Vangelis -- a sort of watered-out, more poppy version -- I can hear.

I've always liked Zimmer's score but I think I'd like Jankel's more.
Have a listen here Thor, the Pink Floyd influence is MASSIVE, very Wish You Were Here though I'd say there's a very strong Roy Buchanan/Jeff Beck sound to the guitar work.
Complete with sound effects I'm afraid but you'll get the gist if you can't put up with that for too long...

Wow! Some parts of that second cue sound like they're coming right from The Division Bell. Literally!

Agreed -- or WISH YOU WERE HERE, at least. When I posted that, I had only heard the first clip (which sounds nothing like Pink Floyd).
