Point taken. Although, at the time, I should think that, conservatively, 90% of the U.S. population was unaware of the Dreyer film, let alone having seen it, while the Shaw play had its theatre-going adherents, but had yet to see any screen incarnation, let alone much public awareness, at least in the U.S. Consequently, Bergman's vehicle, based on a previously well-received Broadway play, in which she had also starred, had much more buzz going for it, not to mention Bergman's reprising her role in the movie version, a big marketing angle at the time. (In fact, it was this saintly image of her which was later denounced on the floor of the U.S. Congress, when she left her husband and children, for a long-term affair with Italian director Roberto Rosselini.)

How about KickStarter? I've contributed to cast albums produced by them, where they solicit contributions from the fanbase. We could try something like that. (Although whether we'd get enough for a recording by their usually announced deadline is another matter. And, yes, they solicit contributions, but enough money has to be received by a prescribed deadline, usually in 30 days or so.) But it's a thought...

Thanks for posting. That sounded GREAT, especially for a concert recording. I'm a poor student right now, but if someone DID do a Kickstarter, I'd pony up $20...maybe even $30. Yavar
