Peter Boyer is your man and you didn't know it! Well, I guess many of you don't - now go buy this CD:

I've just listened to this - what an exciting voice! This Naxos disc contains some of the most thrilling works I've heard in awhile!...
In fact, Peter Boyer is no stranger to the world of film scoring: having studied at USC Thornton School of Music with, among others, Elmer Bernstein, he has contributed orchestrations for Horner, Giacchino, Thomas Newman et al. and arranged music for the Academy Awards telecasts.

Here's Boyer conducting the LSO for another recording. His influences are more than apparent - I love the nod at Elmer at 3:48!

Some of his works are on Spotify. I'll give it a listen.

I've been listening to his and Kevin Kaska's brilliant concert music on and off during the past few weeks. Lots of great, cinematic styled music to be enjoyed from both composers.

Thanks for the tip. I'm a big fan of Boyer's work, but had somehow missed that recent release.

I also discovered these guys at the exact same time, Boyer and Kaska. I LOVE Kaska's pieces "The Lake Isle of Innissfree" (Ravel meets Vaughan Williams) and the Stargate-esque "Golden Falcoln". It's great to see concert composers picking up the candle where a lot of film music (not all) has begun to wan.

Kaska's "Majestic Journey" for euphonium and orchestra is a spectacular little piece, also on Naxos.

Of course that CD has a Euphonium Concerto by another film composer, Vladimir Cosma

I don't think I have ever been so impressed with a "new" composer as I have with Peter Boyer.
His music is immediate, dynamic and brilliant. I have listened to two of Boyer's CD's and his music is nothing short of sensational. I absolutely love his music, and will follow his career very closely. I urge anyone who loves orchestral music to give Boyer a try.

The sound on "The Music of Peter Boyer" is so brilliant that it is easily demo quality.

RM Eastman, having heard this Naxos CD and been wallowing in it for several days now, I fully appreciate and endorse your comments. Couldn't have put it better myself and I couldn't agree more!

Finally picked this up and giving it a "first spin" now. Exciting, colorful stuff. Thanks for the recommendation. I second it...or third it...or fourth it or whatever. Just get it!
