Babadook - looks great, though its been a while since I watched the promo trailer, so I can`t describe it (!).

(idiot grin voice)

Djinn - Ray Park as a malevolent Djinn spirit. Trailer was good, though not conclusively fantastic. Could be something.

Rigor Mortis - Asian horror movie. A retired martial artist vampire hunter moves into, essentially, a haunted apartment. Sounds zany, yet after you`ve watched the trailer you`ll conclude it is anything but. Very eerie. It has that NightStalker and/or Ju-On vibe. Very serious, looks great.

Sinister 2 - Not sure a sequel was the wisest thing to do, but I`m interested, considering Sinister was one of the best horror/suspense films of its time. Consistently great throughout the entirety. Hopefully #2 will be as well. High bar.

I'll check these out! Surprised to see Sinister get a sequel, I hope Christopher Young will be asked to return. I'm not sure how much more the formula of Sinister can still deliver, I hope they wont dumb down the concept of the first movie like they did with the second Ring movie (I had to struggle to make it through that one).

I don't have a PC at the moment, so don't watch so many trailers (looking forward to life after house-move getting back to normality!)...

....but thanks for this - I have heard good things about Babadook, and Sinister 2 was also a surprise for me but not an unwelcome one...

Another couple I'm looking forward to sampling....Willow Creek (directed by Bobcat Goldthwaite!)...the buzz is good for that (but, steer clear if you don't like Found Footage movies)...The Quiet Ones (completely missed cinemas here...having to wait patiently for the DVD!), and Afflicted (am aware that one's already around on VOD, just waiting for equipment to be hooked up before I sample the goods!).

Had heard about Djinn and hoped it was a film version of Graham Masterton's horror novel, but this is totally different. Wasn't too thrilled with the first Sinister ( liked it until the last 20/30 minutes )... Willow Creek... possibly...

Would love to see another good, creepy horror movie....

Watched Willow Creek and found it ... interesting. Being another found footage movie the outcome isn't in doubt, but there are some good creepy moments along the way.

After a Very slow burn set up, the centerpiece is a (roughly) 20 minute one-take shot of the two leads huddled together in their tent as ... something... is out there. Using just the actor's reactions to sound effects - moans, grunts - for me it was a great little exercise in claustrophobic creepy chills and really made excellent use of the whole found footage technique. From there until the end the tension ratchets up quite nicely until..

The ending will either make you mutter "what the hell did I just watch?" or " oh yes, very good I see now". The wife turned to me and said "what a piece of shit, I just sat here for 80 minutes for THAT?" .

Worth a look.

Yes, I enjoyed Willow Creek a lot....and that long single shot was extremely well done. Another Bigfoot movie in the way - "Exists"....also looks worth a try.

Can not get Babadook out of my head.....Baaa...baa....dook...dook....dook...

Posting in this thread reminded me that I hadn't seen "Jinn" yet, so I took the plunge....and I have to say, it's a pretty stupid plunge...a real vanity project for the director, it's pretty patronising junk. Only the action sequences hint at something better, and Ray Park is always a pleasure to watch when he's in action (and the director knows it).

I also have to say - for such a forgettable film, the score (by a new name to me - Noah Sorota) is pretty good fun. A bit boomy now and again, but pretty densely textured and quite thematic.

I know this goes back to 2012 but no one ever really talked about The Possession with Jeffery Dean Morgan. Based on the umm, "true" story of the dybbuk box, for me it was a surprisingly serious and thoughtful horror movie. Maybe more moody and creepy as opposed to scary, but very effective and also features a great score by Anton Sanko...no one ever really talked about that either big grin
