Yes, this is happening all the time now. People that care about security are using a password manager with two step verifications, it is all that will protect you really.

This is exactly it. Sadly, not every service offers two step verification.

That is why you have to handle it yourself. Here is a good list of two step verifications, most of them free services. If you pair up one of these with a manager like LastPass then you are extremely safe. If you have something like a Yubikey or fingerprint you are uncrackable.

Got a notification from the lookout app on my phone. Disregarded it at first but just changed it after seeing this. Good thing the last thing I bought used my old card

The news accounts said ebay posted about the hacking then deleted it later on.

Very nice. I wasn't using Google Authenticator when I first signed up so I hadn't set it up for lastpass before. Still, these options aren't going to work for a separate web site you use outside of lastpass until they enable it as an option. Last pass is awesome because they allow so many of these services to work for two factor but sites like EBay have to enable the services separately.

Thanks. Yeah, I just changed my password from "honeypot" to "honeytrap". Ha, that should confound those hackers. Feeling a lot safer now.

Yeah, you are doing all that you can do, you can knock out almost everything with the method we are talking about. LastPass plus an authentication is pretty amazing, and convenient, and you do not have to remember anything either. I know I can make these massively complex unique words now and never worry about it. Even the LastPass charged service for use on phones is really cheap.

It has gotten so bad that when I work from home I do not use a laptop but instead a device that connects me directly to our main server that is highly encrypted. In addition, I have a device that provides me with a secondary password every 15 seconds that I must use in addition to my other signon password. Amazing technology.

So, my password is: 1, 2, 3, 4. Just like my luggage!
