My library got a new printing of Dracula - DVD Still with no color.
I wish MCA would remaster this with the original gorgeous color.

There is a blu ray release in Japan. Does anyone have this?

I don't...but someone over at Blu-ray.com bought it & reported on it, & it's the same de-saturated picture as the DVD.

yes.

A bit off topic Spielboy but I don't suppose you happened to get the Evilspeak soundtrack that was offered with the Japanese blu Rays?

I'd buy the album re-mastered. All those MCA albums have been deleted for so long. I wonder if there's a problem licensing them from UMG?

Like with any of the majors, it's not so much a problem licensing from UME but the fact they have to CLEAR everything before giving out a license to reissue/expand.

I saw the film yesterday and really enjoyed it. How much music was missing or different on the album than was in the film? I want as much of this greats music as possible.

Hell, I would even purchase a remastered edition, if an expansion was not a possibility. But if the former was not possible either, then a re-recording would be really nice.

I am watching the film right now and I just realized that it's been 35 years now. It's a brilliant score and I think it deserves a proper (cough*FSM*cough) anniversary treatment along with Kilar's score!

Given one's Universal and the other's Columbia...

It's actually a good album musically (performance and music included), but the sound is excruciatingly shrill, and it gets worse on an unforgiving high end system. So, we either need drastic improvement in the sound with remastering, or a complete new recording. Based on the quality of John Mauceri's performance of a brief excerpt ("Night Journeys") on his Hollywood Nightmares album, he would be an excellent conductor for a complete new recording.
