Saw a trailer for this movie before X:Men: Days of Future Past. Looks intriguing. Anyone have any details on who's composing the score? Could it be Nathaniel Mechaly, as with the Taken franchise? IMDB lists Eric Serra as the composer for the title theme, but has no other info.

Eric Serra is scoring the film.

Maybe I'm being silly but I'm amazed someone would ask who's scoring a Besson-directed picture.

Thanks Jason!

And LeHah, I didn't know Serra had lots of history with Besson. Excuse my ignorance please.

Well to be fair, his latest film The Family was NOT scored by Serra.

30 tracks...I don't understand why they can't make this a better listening experience with longer tracks.

No I haven't, but chances are high it will be a lousy listening experience. IMHO.

Harsh, FB!

For me Serra covers the whole scale from the sublime (Nikita, Goldeneye) to the ridiculous (Rollerball). This film looks intriguing.

Saw the movie yesterday, I'd give it a 7.5 / 10. Beware, it's advertised as an action thriller, and starts out that way, but its last half turns into cerebral sci-fi. If you appreciate a good story and aren't turned off by unexpected plot twists, I recommend it.

As for Serra's score, it has kind of an 80s feel - it's got some experimental techno/electronic flair and manages to incorporate some orchestral material/flourishes. Luckily it's more grounded and not as zany as The Fifth Element. I'll likely pick up the CD from Idol Records over at Amazon France. Amazon US has MP3 samples posted (sorry for being unable to provide a link at this time).

Thanks for the report.

I am so looking forward--have been since I heard this announced--to seeing Besson and Scarjo's combined Cinema Force in this intriguing sounding, babe centered, Ultimate Trip of a SciFi Spectacular genre hybrid. And what with Serra reliably bringing it for Nikita, Leon (and Mathilda), as well as Leeloo and even Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg, I am eager to hear his integral contribution to Lucy, too. Lucy II? I read that Besson said he'd think about a follow-up if this one is 'Huge.' So far, it's having a great opening weekend.

I'm happy to hear a new Serra score. And Lucy delivered exactly as I wanted. I do wish more of it sounded as interesting as the theme in "All We Have Done With It" and "I Am Everywhere" but I found the rest of the pulsating, often funky underscore to have real character to it.
