There's only one Superman up there who's even CLOSE to smiling.... Damn! I totally glossed over the whole smiling-hint. Well, in that case I'm changing my answer to Christopher. We've got a winner....

Could he read your mind? Did he know what it is that he does to you? Another five points to late-comer Matt!

All I know is if I was gay, Christopher would be my go-to Superman. I mean, just look at that face... how could even a straight guy NOT love it? Attention everyone! A secure man is posting on the board! This is what it looks like!

I'd guess Christopher Reeve. With whom I once had a couple of friendly conversations. In person, he was pretty much what you saw on film, but seemed taller. Years ago, in a land far, far away.

As an also secure straight man I think Brandon Routh is the most handsome Superman, and I think he was rather unfairly treated, his subtle impersonation of Christopher were pretty good. His Clark was great, his Superman a little less so. Both vastly superior to Cavills versions I think Routh suffered from being given a part that wasn't very interesting. I thought Superman was the least interesting character in that film. I haven't seen (or kissed) Cavill's version.

3 possibilities: 1) The artists are now more gay-friendly. 2) I've gotten older. 3) The gay community has co-opted yet ANOTHER masculine icon. https://youtu.be/1taC3JjIOkM?t=51
