I read on a website called Abelson Music World <http://www.abelsonmusicworld.net/ranger/ranger.html> that in 1987 a vinyl recording was released which contained, on one side, all the original lacquers of the long-sought-after Lone Ranger incidental music. Abelson actually streams one of the cues called NIGHTFALL (you'll recognize it the moment you hear it!) on his sight.
Is anyone aware of this vinyl or a CD ROM of it? A long sought treasure from that period for me.
Ed, thanks for the wonderful find! I remember “Nightfall” as the one that most stood out to me when watching the show in syndication in the early 60’s as a child. It’s great to hear it again. Personally I never cared that much for the show’s use of the WTO, but to each his own. Abelson did a great job reconstructing those!
Terry Salomonson used to sell CD's of all the surviving transcription discs featuring the music used by WXYZ. The same recordings were later used in the television series. Unfortunately, I believe Classic Media may have put an end to his distribution of Lone Ranger recordings.
