As a few of you know, my son is in a band and tours quite often. While he was on tour last Halloween, his parked car was hit from behind by a speeding car and pushed into the car parked in front of his. The car was repairable and the young man who hit the car has stepped up and is making restitution ( he was uninsured). My son is currently on tour on the west coast. Earlier this evening, my neighbor came to my door to tell me that his friend's car had slipped out of gear, rolled down his driveway and - you guessed it - hit my son's car. It hit it so hard that it pushed it onto the lawn, landing about 3 feet from a new outbuilding we just put up. Again, no one was hurt but the car is pretty damaged. My question is - where should my son park his car during the next tour?
This reminds me of a phenomena that used to happen often in NEW YORK CITY years ago . NEW YORK was always a big market for workers using bikes on there jobs, be it couriers, food delivery people etc. I remember back in the day what happened often the people who spend money getting locks for there bikes and lock them up would come back and find them gone. While African immigrants would park there bikes near poles on street sidewalks in busy sections of Manhattan not locked them up and there bikes were often never stolen. Makes one think about the LUCK factor in life?
Well, we found out today that the car is totalled. The damage was way beyond what we first viewed. We haven't told my son while he is on tour - why ruin it for him! Ugh!

Thanks Octoberman. We did actually tell my son as he does have a right to know. He took it very well and it hasn't dampened his spirits at all. We feel worse than he does I think.
