He had a great speaking voice. He was wonderful as Mark on BOTP's.

He's now a part of the stars he advised others to reach for. I hope he was spared the stress of seeing his wife and children battling amongst themselves in his final days.

R.I.P. Casey. I'll always associate you with "America Top 40" (of which a marathon from each year of the '70s is now playing on X.M. '70s on 7).

Every Sunday night at my local casino , they have on, top 40 CASEY KASEM FROM THE 70's, the whole show. I have been listening to it with my girl every time we have a chance to get to go to the casino. It is on from 10.pm till 1.am in the morning When we go we usually get there by 7 pm and spend around 6 hours on the slot machines. We enjoy those shows because they bring back such precious memories of our youth. It is the songs that were not the big hits that really bring back the memories , it goes just to no 32, then off the charts or no 25 then off the charts. Because we are hearing songs we have not heard in over 30 to 40 years. So one has a clearer mental picture of the last time we heard it. Really touching. Now by the time the show comes on at 10 pm, me and my girl are either winning, losing or breaking even, when we are doing good, we are singing all over the place with of course by that time a few free beers in us, Good times. Because of this and my youth it is sad to hear this news.Well I hope he is calling the hits someone up in the stars. KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND AND KEEP REACHING FOR THE STARS- R.I.P CASEY.

Mr D'tails Cumminup is gone. Shaggy is gone. Ah well, another small chapter of my childhood closes.

Kasem had a nice cameo in a terrible monster-on-the-loose picture called The Dark, playing a police pathologist. A cop asks him what colour the mysterious killer's skin is based on forensic scraps. Kasem bewildered reply... "It's grey". I always thought that was a cool moment. Didn't save the picture though. wink

For genre fans he will also be remembered for his performance in that cheesy effort THE INCREDIBLE TWO HEADED TRANSPLANT-71- with BRUCE DERN, PAT PRIEST[THE MUNSTERS] and JOHN BLOOM.AIP the next year did THE THING WITH TWO HEADS-72- with RAY MILLAND and ROSEY GRIER.Then there was a Spanish effort made in 72 called THE MAN WITH TWO HEADS. That ended the two headed craze. leaving one to ponder, two heads are not better then one.For sure when you are in the NEW YORK CITY subway during rush hour.

When he did "America Top 10" for television he ended with "Keep Your Feet On The Ground, Keep Reaching For The Stars, And Keep Your Radio tuned Right Where It Is". I just got through listening to a 24 hour marathon of selected "America Top 40s" from every year in the '60s (though six singles were missing from the 1976 survey).

I also remember him for his voicing of Cliffjumper in the original Transformers cartoon.
