"Jar Jar's the key to all this, if we get Jar Jar working. 'Cause he's a funnier character than we've ever had in the movies..."

George Lucas keeps saying these are basically children`s movies, and you know who I`ve never heard bitching about these movies? Children, their intended audience. You know who can never STFU about what Lucas does to his own creations? Chronologically-adult males who should have learned long ago that these are entertainments for summer movie nights when they were kids, and maybe occassional revisits over the years, after they have grown up and moved on from childish junkfood diets of escapism and moved on to literature, higher forms of film art, and music, and realistic adult interactions with the world and entertainment products. if my dad ever went on and on because they were colorizing a Flash Gordon short or something, my mom would have had him committed. Nowadays, someone who treats this stuff as the kids`s stuff it is is considered heartless; in the past they`d be considered an ordinary adult of average maturity who has a grip on reality."

There is a lot of truth in this. I think the same could be said of all the internet fandoms from Buffy to Firefly through the BSG reboot and whatnot.

As George Lucas himself said it - "I think I've earned the right to fail."

Thanks to someone on this board (I don't recall who exactly but thanks just the same), I saw the TV Tropes site. They really have the various kinds of fans down cold, and amusingly so.

Just last Xmas (for instance), the amount of plastic invested in toys (Star Wars Lego kits for instance) for the kids was simply . . . phenom! Believe me, I know. I had to piece together several of the flamin' things, only for them to fall apart a second after falling into the hands of the intended. Then you wonder if you should have used glue. But that's not the Lego way. So, you move on to the next crumbly . . . and the next.

Isn't that the same RAMBO rumor that crops up at least once a year, but is always debunked soon after?

Actually that "Mexico" script was around long before Rambo IV got made and I'm glad they didn't use it so far. I personally wouldn't mind if Stallone would just stop... He ended part IV on a perfect note.

Agreed. smile
