I realize it's kinda dumb, but I always watch this film, well before the fireworks displays in the evening, on The 4th of July. When the film came out originally, I actually saw 'Independence Day' (in a sold-out auditorium), in Seattle on the 4th of July. Made it sort of 'special', I know it's kinda dumb but, there it is.

Jaws is another film that takes place on that day. That's when I watch it.

I watch a number of films on the day they take place. The Poseidon Adventure on New Year's Eve/Day. Titanic on April 14th. Die Hard on Christmas Eve. There are others.

Yeah, it ain't just you guys razz

We usually watch ID4 on July 4th, and Die Hard around Christmas. Jaws, I watch once a year so it doesn't have to be July 4th, but I did tell the wife last night it is about that time again...

So how disappointed was Mrs P when she realised you were talking about Jaws?

Which brings up something else. Chris, you may want to have Becca investigate a Documentary I spotted on Netflix. 'IS THE MAN WHO IS TALL, HAPPY?' wink

I watch 1776. Now that I have a Blu-ray hybrid of the film, including the edited portions from the laserdisc, with the great PCM soundtrack, I will be watching it for sure, this year.

I don't think I'll be watching anything that day, as I'm going to be at a gaming convention in Orlando. It'll run a few days, though, and I do anticipate stepping away from the con occasionally to go shopping or whatever, or perhaps even hit a theme park. It's therefore not out of the question that I might go see a movie in a theater, but I don't plan to watch something I'd have to watch on video - no point in wasting a couple hours of time in Orlando doing something I can do at home.

I do sometimes watch seasonally-set movies at those times (Gremlins at Christmas, for example).

First watch Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson sing in Philly.THEN follow by viewing The American Capitol being blown-up. Great segway!

Viewing 'INDEPENDENCE DAY' on The 4th?

Only if I want my eyes to roll so far back in my head that they fall out.

That movie makes Jaws 4 look like Jaws 3. smile
