Moebius Models announced a model kit of Proteus for 2015. This would be the first official styrene kit for this subject.

SOLIUM:

I figured someone would release a Proteus model sooner or later--I thought Pegasus might.

Models I'd like to see (excluding some kits that are discontinued):

THE TIME MACHINE
the Nautilus (20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA)
THE THING (original)
MYSTERIOUS ISLAND
THEM!
WAR OF THE WORLDS (CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED comic book)
EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS
20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH
IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA
FORBIDDEN PLANET (flying saucer and the Id monster)

Nice list!

Speaking of styrene type kits I don't think we will ever see Disney's Nautilus. License cost to much, and Disney doesn't really see any kind of revenue from such a venture. - compared to "Cars", "Planes" or "Tinkerbell" toys.

Round 2 has two Forbidden Planet c-57d kits. One small about 12 inches wide, with light kit, and another much larger scale. (Actually a Polar Lights reissue)

Really shocked no one got a license to do 2001 kits yet, and damn it's about time for the Icarus from POTA's!

All the specialty model kit companies are doing interesting subjects. Pegasus, Moebius, Monarch. Round 2 however seems to be doing mostly upgraded reissues, and just axed a bunch of announced kits! (Canceled: King Kong, Wicked Witch,Thor,Alien Queen.)

I'd rather see Pegasus release more preassembled models since painting is a painful chore to me. I bought the Pegasus preassembled Martian (WAR OF THE WORLDS) on ebay and saw the same ebay seller had the Martian War Machine available so I got both with combined shipping---I'm glad because now I think the War Machine is a really good model.
The Martian model comes with debris accessories including a damaged eye probe and two books (WAR OF THE WORLDS and TO SERVE MAN---the latter I thought was really cool to go with my TWILIGHT ZONE Kanamit from "To Serve Man"---it includes the figure, a lunch box autographed by Richard Kiel and a full-size cook book).

Other models I'd like to see:

THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS
JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS
For the Id monster, I'd like to see a visible "in-the-flesh" monster as it existed in the Id of Morbius

I have a few of the X-Plus Harryhausen models, but they're pretty small.

A grail kit for me would be the creature from "20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH"- Monarch would be perfect for that. (Though he sells kits not prepaints)

Moebius sells most of their kits as prepaints usually a year or two after release. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Proteus comes out as a kit and prepaint. I have their LIS Space Pod as a prepaint and it's very professionally painted and built.

I need to pick up the Dragon Slayer dragon from Pegasus.

The Sony Harryhausen dvd set includes a free Ymir figure---it's pretty good.
Also, you can choose between colorized or black & white versions of the movies.

@ dragon53 - Got my package today. Three great movies and the Ymir figurine. This picture doesn't do the quality of the figure justice. It looks fantastic in person! Nice size, great detail, well painted, no seams, very heavy and balances solidly. Thxs again for directing me towards this package. smile

Those are beautiful kits.

When I was a kid, the Zanti and the Wolf 359 creature scared the crap outta me.

Glad to help out. The first movies I ever saw was when my mother took me to see the double feature of 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH and EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS.

My fantasy model from 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH would be a diorama of the Ymir battling the elephant.

So funny you should post that particular picture. I was thinking of going to my local hobby and crafts store and see if they have a prepaint Elephant for such a diorama. I know they have a section of prepaint animals and some of the figurines are pretty big.

Try this one. It says it's about 10" long.

Scroll down to middle.

These preassembled Asian elephants are probably too small.

Maybe the first one is close in scale.

The Ymir figurine is about 7 inches tall. In the screen cap they appear to be about the same size, though the Ymir is bending forward a bit so he might be slightly taller than the elephant.

A mere $24,500 gets you the life-size version.

I saw this page years ago. I wonder if they are still in business.

Looks a lot like the old Trendmasters robot from the 90's. I'm not a fan of Diamond Select products. They produce some of the most inaccurate and cheap looking toys and figures on the market. And in my opinion way overpriced for the quality.

If I win the lottery I'll get the life size one for sure! Moebius Models just came out with a very accurate 13 inch model kit. Yeah it would take a lot of skill to glue, light and paint, but I bet they will release it as a prepaint sooner or later.
