The song is readily available, and it wasn't worth the costs to license:

http://www.amazon.com/Warner-Bros-I-Love-L-A/dp/B001OAT5RE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1405104564&sr=8-2&keywords=newman+i+love+la

All of the songs on the album have never been released before!

Please tell me we are not already complaining about POSSIBLE future releases that no one knows about before we even have IN OUR HANDS this wonderful 3 disc set by LLL?

I don't know if the fans know this, but the labels and rightfully so, get quite annoyed when you say, "GREAT JOB!!! Can't wait to get it!!! Ok, how about this or that score next?" These guys work their tales off, let's praise them for THIS specific title right now before we go into asking or wanting or demanding this or that. You don't even have this score yet and you are already talking about the next.

Goodness razz

I'm anxiously awaiting this set as there just isn't a lot of scores out by Ira at all, so it will be nice to FINALLY get three whole discs worth of Ira Newborn music. La-La Land you guys ROCK!

I get what you're saying Peter but in all honesty I tend to think of this message board as ideally more neutral and people are open to discuss this 'announcement' any way they want as long as it's done respectfully as Josh points out. Also, you've been around long enough to know that when one title gets released, suddenly people get excited and dream about another one in the same genre, by the same composer, ... being a possibility as well. I've taken it for granted and don't see anything wrong with that. A message board allows for quick response and not always as thought out.

Also on message boards, we hardly discuss film music aside from what's missing or how the mix sounds anyway (not mentioning the artwork etc.), so don't think because you're not reading the praise and appreciation it isn't there! This board doesn't have a like function like most modern ones I visit. When labels don't get any reaction at all, they need to start worrying or shout that the market is glutty... glutty or glutted? "Glut-free"? Such a gluttony. wink

I know even with those appreciative AWESOME posts are meant the way they should. Super excited fans myself included. It's just when you say AWESOME, then follow it with, hey what about??? Or I hope this title is coming next. The amount of time and effort La-La Land does on this, I want them to bask in the glory of this release and enjoy the praise before we're onto the next title smile

Great job as always LLL!!! That main theme is SO darn catchy. Now how about releasing.... razz

I think one or more of these is on Netflix right now. For those NOT familiar with the films or scores check them out on Netflix as they really are funny and the music is TOP NOTCH!

If you haven't seen The Naked Gun movies, you better have a damn good excuse.

I cannot get enough of "The Touchable Untouchables." And "Thinking... of Him!" is a ridiculously gorgeous theme.

My excuse is I don't like toilet humor. Though I did just watch the first movie on Netflix so I could hear the score.

Getting so much enjoyment out of this set and it had been so far off my radar for so long. Thanks Lala!

If you think THE NAKED GUN is nothing but toilet humor, then you have severely misjudged the movie.

Not really. Piss, vomit, decapitation, tiger attack. Yeah real classy! My belly hurts.

ALTERNATE RETORT

Piss, vomit, decapitation, tiger attack.

My father went the same way.

Received my copy today. Boy oh boy, what a killer score (or rather 3 killer scores). Say what you want but Ira Newborn is a true master of his craft. Just listened to all 3 CDs and I have to say that there is not one dull moment. Great jazz, great suspense, great action, great romance and great source cues.

Ok, time to put CD 1 back in smile

Finally able to dive in and enjoy this set, there is a great amount of really memorable scoring here. I always loved the Varese album from 1991 with cues from the first two movies, but now it's fun to revisit each score on its own terms. The action music certainly got bigger over the course of the three!

So how is this set?

I have the single disc, and aside from a couple of annoying tracks, it is pretty solid. Does this set offer more of what I like about the original album, or is it so stylistically all-over-the-map that lots of cherry picking is needed?

I don`t know what you like about the original album but the LLL 3 cd set offers the complete scores to all 3 Naked Gun films. Which means that for the first time you`ll have music from the third film. I think it`s an amazing box. Like I said I don`t know what you like about the original album, I`d suggest you listen to the samples on the LLL homepage and decide for yourself.

It's got more of the stuff you like, and more of the stuff you don't like. The original album did a pretty good job of covering the basics so if you enjoyed that overall, you're gonna enjoy the box set.

I don't like the goofy stuff. I like the serious underscore and jazzy stuff.
