how the hell does Beltrami not have an Oscar? Really thought after SOUL SURFER that he would be as high profile as Brian Tyler, James Newton Howard or Micheal Giacchino but he remains still... unknown to an extent.

Not sure if I agree, he's doing some high profile stuff. It seems every big film these is scored either by Zimmer, Desplat, Tyler or Beltrami. I think he's actually better than JNH at the moment

Not sure if I agree, he's doing some high profile stuff. It seems every big film these is scored either by Zimmer, Desplat, Tyler or Beltrami. I think he's actually better than JNH at the moment I think they are equals truth be told. Soul Surfer is just as lush and gorgeous as The Last Airbender. I have stayed before that what shocks me is if you look back at the last 10 years of Beltrami's work, you'll see some high profile films and some amazing scores year in and year out but he isn't a name like Zimmer, Elfman, Horner, and others. I love the work of Clint Mansell, John Murphy and Cliff Martinez but these are composers who do great but small output and that is fine with me and the same for Dario Marionelli and others but Beltrami is someone who I think puts out at least 3 scores a year and 3 damn good ones.
