Re: Anybody else gotta Grove's? Kinda did a double take when I saw that. I think that "gotta" is used mostly as a contraction for "got to," not "got a" --otherwise why do a contraction that is the same length (5 spaces)? Had long been tempted to buy a Groves, but in my early 20s I bought soooooooooo many volumes of Pelican's history of music as well as other volumes on the symphony, the concerto, chamber music, opera (I think) and too many others to remember (all of which provided endless pleasure for me) that I chose not to spend the money on a Groves.

I don't know which edition you're talking about, but for what it's worth, I wrote a Salter entry and a Skinner entry for Groves New Dictionary...
