THE BOOGEY MAN (HWRCD-020)
music composed by Tim Krog
http://www.howlinwolfrecords.com/storetheboogeyman.html

Howlin' Wolf Records at long last proudly presents on CD the eerie electronic score by composer Tim Krog for the 1980 Ulli Lommel cult classic THE BOOGEY MAN. This premiere CD release of the soundtrack presents the 1980 program, transferred and mastered from the original vinyl. The album assembly remixes and rearranges the majority of the score heard in the film into an optimal listening program, and includes some material not heard in the final film. In addition the CD includes two bonus tracks of newly arranged and recorded music by up and coming composer Fernando Pereyra.

One of several horror films released at the height of the slasher movie craze of the late 1970s and early 1980s, THE BOOGEY MAN is an effective mashup of supernatural cinema's greatest hits that has developed a strong cult following. Director and co-writer Ulli Lommel was born into a showbusiness family and began his career as an actor in the German film industry in the 1960s. Striking up a relationship with the celebrated filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Lommel went on to collaborate with him on over twenty projects.

All creative and production work on THE BOOGEY MAN soundtrack was done by Synthe-Sound-Trax in their Hawthorne, California studios. Synthe-Sound-Trax consisted of Tim Krog, Jan Bartlett, and Ed Christiano. Composer Tim Krog studied film scoring at UCLA and has created music for film, television, and radio but is probably best know for his work as the composer for THE BOOGEY MAN.

Some selections of the original 1980 album master were sourced from reference discs. Although fully restored, some inherent recording artifacts may be noticeable.

THE BOOGEY MAN is packaged in a jewel case with full color inserts, featuring a 16-page booklet with striking designs by Luis M. Rojas and liner notes written by Jason Comerford, including reflections by Director/Co-Write Ulli Lommel.

JACOB (HWRCD-021)
music composed by Iain Kelso
http://www.howlinwolfrecords.com/storejacob.html

Howlin' Wolf Records proudly presents JACOB by award-winning composer Iain Kelso (THE MYSTICAL ADVENTURES OF BILLY OWENS). Iain Kelso is a Canadian-born composer who studied violin, clarinet, piano, violoncello, and contrabass. JACOB is a rich and emotional score composed and orchestrated by Iain Kelso, featuring viola, French horn, and violoncello conducted by Alejandro Ramirez Rojas.

Directed by Larry Wade Carrell, the film JACOB follows the Kell family suffering under the rule of Otis, the abusive head of household. With a supernatural twist, the horror centers around the title character and the close protective bond he shares with his younger sister. JACOB also features a performance by action film icon Michael Biehn.

For a limited time, orders placed on the Howlin' Wolf Records website will ship with an additional insert booklet autographed by composer Iain Kelso. This offer is available while supplies last.

JACOB is packaged in a jewel case with full color inserts, featuring an 12-page booklet with designs by Luis M. Rojas and liner notes written by film music scholar Gergely Hubai, including a note from composer Iain Kelso.

The Boogey Man score is freakin'awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on this CD.

It's a pity they didn't have access to the mastertapes though. It would have been great
to have the complete score as heard in the film - but I shouldn't complain.

Indeed the tracks are very interesting, the music was performed by a small orchestra and soloists, recorded in Colombia under the direction of Alejandro Ramirez Rojas, also the score was nominated for Best Music Soundtrack at the 2013 Macabre Faire Film Festival, and won for Best Music at the 2012 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.

I recommend to give it a try, as well as Boogey Man wink

The Jacob samples sounds surprisingly interesting !!!!!, I think Kelso will become gradually in a famous composer out his country. Also I surprised by the work of coming composer Fernando Pereyra. Who is he ??. Definitely two discs that I must buy.
