It would be nice if Danny Elfman's NIGHT BREED was re-released/expanded this year in time for Halloween and for the release of the Director's Cut on Blu Ray (already place my order :-)). I'm guessing since the original album was an MCA label, it might fall to LLL. But I could be wrong. Thoughts?

If it's OOP then it might fall under Intrada's radar. I believe the rights is under UMG which Intrada has a relationship with them. Also as Thor mentioned & I have the sdtk, it seems nearly complete.
It's still one of my favorite Elfman scores and I think the original album is a really well-presented and well-crafted listen of all the major highlights. That being said, I know there are more cues from the final assault sequence, plus a cue written by Shirley Walker, that might be interesting to hear on disc.
An expansion would be fine if there is great deal of un-released music and since the ltd edition blu ray will also be in an extended cut version then who knows. Havent seen the movie in a decade! but what great score.
Not from what I've read, I think he was only provided the theatrical version provided by the studio, but hey, surprises happen in this industry all the time.

Very doubtful that he will be involved with this project given that Shout factory, the label behind it, have said in a recent podcast that they couldn't get him to collaborate with them before on a different project (and that was just for an interview).
What was also mentioned is that the audio that will be used for the director's cut will still originate from the cabal cut (the vhs copy), whereas the film itself is pieced together from original negatives found (and appear to look like filmed yesterday). Aside from the boxes with negative, they also found the audio tapes, but due to the excessive costs to go through them and piece together the audio scene by scene they will not use it. This is a bummer but understandable given the limited budget they have.
Some new audio however has been recorded, Doug Bradley (who got dubbed by a different actor for the existing movie) came in to record his voice for the cabal cut:
I saw the cabal cut several months ago, and although the film played better with more of the storyline fleshed out, the use of music was often jarring. Sections of Elfman's score were cut and looped over and over again to support the new scenes. I really hope they can get access to the music sessions and pull some more music from that, or even license some pre-existing music from another score (like The Seventh Sign in THE ABYSS.)...or at the very least hire someone who has an ear for good music placement.
Very excited about the director's cut, ordered on day one. Nightbreed has always been a somewhat frustrating movie for me. Some terrific ideas and atmosphere pulled down by a meandering last act. All the "sons of the free" stuff. I always felt the destruction of Midian needed to be peppered with more gore, especially during the Berserker rampage. This section was so dark (literally) in the Cabal cut, i could hardly tell what was happening half of the time. In short, the last act needs the most love from the editor.
Back to the music, Nightbreed is my all-time favorite Elfman score. I'd totally pick up an expanded release. Especially if it featured more score and less Country Skin
