Varese is a shadow of its former self , with very little output ..., but then like you said they did do the spartacus box set and the excellent fimucite concert dvds...

I see, they have some really good score albums coming, have been putting out some really good releases and they are a "shadow" of their former selves?

LOL. Whatever. Sorry man, that is not true at all from my vantage point.

Greetings!

We really appreciate the feedback and like Ford said, yes we are working are darndest at getting more music up, especially on SPOTIFY, like Mr. Popular mentioned. As Ford said, this takes a lot of time and as many of you know, Varèse just moved so are getting settled into our new office. These aren't excuses of course, but facts. We are actively getting more and more music up on SPOTIFY as we can. Prior to working at Varèse I had no idea what SPOTIFY was, now after doing some research, it's a great place to check out a lot of music.

Varèse's catalogue is quite large so uploading to SPOTIFIY, filling in all the many metadata fields for each title, going through the approval process is quite time consuming.

ALL of these soundtrack labels are smaller than you might think. Most operate with 10 employees or a lot less. They have to to stay afloat.

I'm sure most of the other great labels besides Varèse wish they could hire teams of people to do some of this time consuming stuff, but it's just not feasible.

Hope this helps you a little bit. We are trying though and appreciate the feedback whether critical or not, it DOES help us!

smile

Mr. Daisy is correct. I am uncertain of what metadata Varese inputs, but I can assure you it's a lot of data entry and approval process before a title goes live to many websites. Apple is very picky. Amazon not so for example.

Some deals allow for Spotify, some deals don't. Some content owners will only allow a label to make the music available physically.

Are you wrong to feel this way? Why yes, yes you are.

I agree with my fellow collector djintrepid. They really should include sound clips for their releases. I have, however, a solution (kind of) until their so desired website makeover is not yet completed: go to itunes store and search for the title you are curious about. You'll be able to listen to samples for every single track of a particular score. Sure, it doesn't work with "pre-order" stuff, but it works with already available titles...

And, guys, let's cut the bitterness towards each other?

Peace!

In the old days there was not even a website.

I still enjoyed Varese releases again and again, even or especially from composers I did not know anything about. That´s how I enlarged my perspective and musical taste.

Try out something without having it pre-checked. You will enjoy the surprise.

Before it gets lost, I just want to call our Miss Daisy's driver for as good a reception of feedback as I've ever seen. And especially just responding to the points raised and not taking up the foolish way the original post was written.

Very well done, Mr. DMD!
