TUESDAY, JULY 15

CHILD 44---movie based on the novel about a disgraced Soviet policeman who seeks to stop a serial child killer. Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman star. Premiere is April 17, 2015.





SONATA---movie underway based on the Orson Scott Card short story about a child musical prodigy. Yaron Zilberman (A LATE QUARTET) is the writer/director.

THOR---new Marvel comic book will feature a female Thor in which a woman who is saved by Thor follows him to Earth. After Odin decides that Thor is unworthy of Mjolnir, the woman is picked as Thor's successor. Publication is in October.





THE HATEFUL EIGHT---Kurt Russell confirmed he's co-starring in the Quentin Tarantino Western movie described as, "the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere." Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, Amber Tamblyn, James Remar and Michael Madsen are expected to join the cast.

CORONADO HIGH---movie underway based on the true story set in 1960s Coronado, California in which a high school teacher and his students created the largest marijuana-smuggling ring on the West Coast that earned $100 million a year and stretched from the US to Mexico and Thailand. George Clooney is the producer and may direct. The script is by Deborah Cahn (GREY'S ANATOMY).

BEAUTIFUL AND TWISTED---Lifetime tv movie based on the murder of Ben Novack, Jr., heir to the famed Fontainbleau Miami Beach Hotel which was featured in GOLDFINGER. His wife was convicted in the murder of Novack and his mother because she feared he would divorce her and marry the stripper he was having an affair with. Rob Lowe, Candice Bergen and Paz Vega star.





THE FERMATA---dramedy tv series from Robert Zemeckis (FORREST GUMP) based on the novel about a man who has the power to freeze time and uses it to undress women.

12 MONKEYS---Syfy series reboot of the 1995 movie that starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. Co-executive producer Terry Matalas said, “It's a complete re-imagining. We're all big fans of the original film and we didn't want to just re-do what the movie does. Everything from the top-down changed. While the story has a lot of the same themes, it wouldn't make sense to tell the same story again...We changed the rules. In the movie, you can't change the rules of time. Here, you can.”

TUT---Ben Kingsley will play Ay, King Tutankhamun's top advisor in this Spike TV six-part miniseries.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES---Colin Ferguson (EUREKA) will be a new villain in Season 6.

MALEVOLENT---animated horror movie in which a young woman must save her family from her psychotic industrialist father and a supernatural entity. Voices are provided by Morena Baccarin (HOMELAND), Ray Wise (TWIN PEAKS), Bill Moseley (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2) and Dani Lennon.

THE GUNS OF CHRISTMAS PAST---movie based on A CHRISTMAS CAROL in which a former Chicago hitman must defeat the ghosts of enemies from his past, present and future to avenge a friend's death on Christmas Eve. Kevin Tancharoen (MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY) is the director.

CHICAGO FIRE---a major character will be killed off in after Season 2's cliffhanger involving a burning warehouse.

STRONGER---movie underway based on the memoir by Jeff Bauman who lost both legs in the Boston Marathon terrorist bombing.
