Has there ever been a stereo release of Victor Young’s ‘Omar Khayyam’ or ‘The Brave One’? Certainly the latter on its cinema release had a stereo s/track. Not sure about Omar.
Thanks.

This is off the top of my head, but:

As far as I know, OMAR KHAYYAM (1956) was mono only.

THE BRAVE ONE (1956) had a DVD release (Lumivision DVD 1697) with an isolated "Music & Effects" track, but without checking I can't recall if it was mono or stereo. The CD releases so far have been in mono.

The isolated "Music and Effects" track on THE BRAVE ONE dvd WAS in stereo, but note again that it included sound effects as well.

OMAR KHAYYAM (along with Amfitheatrof's score for THE MOUNTAIN) was never in stereo on the Decca double-score LP release. Kritzerland has been tapping the Paramount library for titles in this period, so it would be interesting if material existed for either of these films, though, unfortunately, it's likely a contemporary release would be hampered by the existence of the Decca (now UMG) licenses.

The same goes for the Frank Skinner TAMMY AND THE BACHELOR / INTERLUDE double-Lp from Decca in the same period, but this time from the UI vaults.

I gave it a listen and affirm Manderley's comment, with the addition that the M&E track is "modulated" (volume goes up and down with the screen action/dialogue). But stereo it is.

The menu to select the green "AUDIO" selection at the bottom of the menu screen is also tricky. You can't just move the cursor laterally - it skips over that Audio selection. You have to move the cursor to highlight "Play" and then press the "down" cursor to change the green "AUDIO" selection to the brown (active), which you can then select (Press Enter). You can then choose Option 2 - Music and Effects Track.

OMAR KHAYYAM, the highlights of which I sometimes play in my office waiting room, has one of Victor Young's most exquisite "love themes." I think the cue is titled "Secret Meeting." It's absolutely lovely.

Man, I would love a complete release of either of these scores. I have the LPs of both, as well as the Japanese CD of THE BRAVE ONE (in mono), and well as the stereo M&E of the DVD of THE BRAVE ONE.

But really, if anyone was able to unearth the stereo scores, that would be magnificent!
