Regarding the 777--when I think of what those people experienced and what their surviving friends and family are now going through... it's gut-churning.

It is sickening and something so terrible its hard to comprehend. I only hope at 33 thousand feet the victims became unconscious almost immediately and their suffering was brief. Surviving family members are dealing with the worst of horrors.

The news broke yesterday just as I was leaving for work, so it wasn't until late last night that and now this morning that I'm able to get the full story up to now.

For me, although there surely will be some sort of repercussions down the line, the shock and horror and sadness of the tragedy is what has my focus today.

So many lives lost, souls gone, families impacted and changed forever. The details coming out are heartbreaking - infants on parent's laps, passengers still in their seats with headphones on... a watch found stopped at the time of impact...

My condolences to the families, friends and countries who have lost anyone in this shockingly sad event.

The aircraft flew directly over a war zone, and not around it. The morality of the conflict in the Ukraine is one thing.

But the passengers of MH0017 are blameless victims who represent each and every single one of us where no self-blame can be attached in carrying on with seemingly harmless daily activities. The fact is, there is some significant risk in everything we do that we just don't see, or want to see.

Some of us just fall into the hole, regardless. My sympathy to the victims past, present and future who did not see it coming due to the world being a much more complicated and treacherous place than could ever be reasonably imagined.

That made me laugh.

RIP. A terrible tragedy for the families and the whole world. This has probably set the world of AIDS research back decades alone.

I've said before although not on this board, the Russians are well on their way back to becoming the supervillains of the world through their support for the vile Putin.

As for Dan not a man, you supposedly left once, please do so again, Osama.

The Dutch prime minister proved himself an island of sanity in an ocean of aggressive assumption and finger pointing. swearing that if if was indeed an attack those who are responsible will be brought to justice, but at no point allowing for any speculation regarding who and why, untill the investigation has been concluded.

Nearly 190 Dutch people dead. A sad day for our country!

Stefancos, I am so sorry for you and your fellow citizens. In the midst of a terrible tragedy such as this it is so important that you have leadership like your Prime Minister. The world mourns with you.

It's all so shockingly tragic. My thoughts too are with the victims' families. What hell they must be going through.

And what is absolutely outrageous is the fact that obstacles are being put up to stop the inspectors at the site collecting data. All this finger pointing and mutual accusations, and nobody has the cojones to say "Eh, sorry, it was us. We made a mistake." Hardly surprising, but it's a huge additional insult to those who are grieving.

As I read that the 298 innocent victims of this horrific tragedy are still lying unattended in the debris field, I am speechless and stunned. Has this world reached such a depraved level that this is allowed to continue? I cannot even begin to imagine the heartache of the families as they cope with the sudden loss. But can you imagine how this crash site situation is adding to their grief? Again, I can't. I am not naive and have seen how heartless mankind can be. However, this has really hit me hard.

I agree. To make matters worse, there are now reports that some of the victims' credit cards have been stolen and used to make purchases. Now that's disgusting.

The more repressive and war mongering one is the more depraved they are. It's been shown over and over again.
