Speaking of "Smoking Telegram"...

Beautiful piece! Sad that it's lost to the ages.

Can someone explain to me--a layman--what the difference between a "stem" is and, I guess, the actual original recording file?

jwb addressed this already, but to add to it I think that the stems include the music as mixed to be heard in the film, which is probably not an optimal presentation when offered away from all the other elements of the film's soundtrack.

I'm sure if that cue were still to pop up La-la would consider adding it to a new volume set of x-files or Millennium?

For me not a deal breaker in any way, I look forward to how they made this sound!

Thanks LLL for your continued support of all things X-Files! You make this life-long fan very happy indeed! smile

I'm curious: if that cue was something tossed together at the last minute in his studio, and isn't exactly complex, that if he could simply reproduce it, and then include it on the 2015 X-Files Volume 3. He'd still have all those samples, should know them well having worked with them for many years.

Plus, I'd wish that he'd allow the other missing cues that are not lost, to be tossed onto the Volume 3 release.

Still wouldn't quite pack the punch the full, final orchestral version has, though. Though maybe if BSX did a recreation of it like they did for other Fight the Future cues on last year's X-Files tribute disc -- some of those sounded pretty damn impressive in terms of orchestra emulation...

To be honest, I was just thinking about that myself..

Not a bad idea.

Awesome news, though very disappointing about the Smoking Telegram cue :-( I have loved this cue for years and had hoped to see it. But not much that can be done if even the composer spent 2 years searching for it to turn up nothing. Obviously they had a really good reason for not using the film stem (though I agree this would have been better than nothing).

I absolulety can't wait for anything Mark Snow, most notably his X-Files / Millennium tunes. Count me in for a release-day order on this one. Thanks LLL!!! smile

Although it appears most prefer Fight the Future, LLL, please keep in mind that there are some who still love the I Want to Believe score. Perhaps in the future? smile

I think the commercial release of the IWTB score is pretty perfect (minus a few nice little cues missing, like the one where Scully is trying to convince the kid's parents not to give up on his treatment), excepting the awful Xzibit track, ugh. Fortunately it's at the end and you can pretend it's not there by hitting the stop button wink

The complete isolated score is on the Blu-ray, but I'd still go for a complete, expanded CD release.

X files from the beginning to this day has changed the world and the lives of many people including my .Before they start to record X files episodes and movies a lot of people were skeptic and did not believe in supernatural or paranormal and after X files 80% of population now believe that aliens are real.....
And we will enjoy them again the X FILES.....THE ONE AND THE ONLY.....?
