Dear SIGERSON -- I told you to keep watching the skies, and never to give up hope -- remember? Sweet dreams, Preston

Many thanks, Preston, and . . . CONGRATULATIONS! So relieved that we are both still alive to see it. I'm gonna dust off that space I've been saving between "Heaven and Hell to Play With" and "The Magic Factory"!

I have to laugh at the question of editing as opposed to a bunch of interviews... The two CFQ special issues which preceded this one, for STAR WARS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, were indeed nothing but one interview after another, (averaging 20 per issue). For the ST-TMP issue, I interviewed not 20 but 60 people, and one reason why it took ages before editor Fred Clarke could receive my ms. is because I completely re-worked the material so that it is not Q & A at all but rather what I like to call a montage of memories. I eliminated my questions entirely, and then cut back and forth from one person to another. The result is a round-robin discussion of reminiscences from those sixty participants, with occasional interstitial commentary from me where necessary. Anyone familiar with my previous tome, "Heaven and Hell to Play With: The Filming of THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER," knows what to expect from "Return to Tomorrow," but on a much, much grander scale. As with "Heaven and Hell," there are no chapters, per se, but three sections comprising Pre-Productiion (HAILING FREQUENCIES OPEN), Production (THRUSTERS AHEAD), and Post-Production (READY OR NOT, SHE LAUNCHES), with an epilog (STARFLEET COMMISSION REACTIVATED). There will indeed be samples you can read at various Trek websites, and as soon as they're online we'll post the pertinent links here.

Hey, October is getting closer. When should we be expecting the book to ship? Hey I'm glad you bumped this because I was just about to search the board for any news, myself. I went over to their site and it still says "late October". Definitely looking forward to this, especially since, way back in the Summer, I ordered other stuff with it that hasn't shipped. (Since in-stock stuff was bundled with pre-orders, I guess the whole thing ships at once, when the pre-order is available. It's understandable that unlike an Amazon, they likely can't break orders up). Anyhow, I digress. Really excited for this book, but it's always fun to have something to anticipate. Remember the LONG wait for the massive TOS CD Box Set? (aka The Gift That Keeps On Giving)

It's now late October. I am chomping on the bit, drooling with anticipation, and breaking wind waiting for my copy. When will I be able to expect it so my mailman can drop it off in front of my door?
