Samples available on iTunes. (Interesting enough not on Amazon) Sounds as good, if not better than Planes. Themes, I hear themes! Fun themes, sad themes, romantic themes, dramatic themes. Maybe the second best new score of the year after Dragons 2.

i think it is better. only had time to give one fairly distracted listen but my immediate thoughts are this is a lot more fun to listen to than one.

One thing I noticed was the second score seems more classically influenced, where as the first has a rock edge. I really like the first score, but based on the samples I think I will agree with your assessment.

Great score!! Proper brass writing, big themes, fun references to other animation scores (Chicken Run esp.). Favorite tracks so far are (It's) Hip to be Cad and Fire Heroes. And the added string ostinato to the main theme is cool. Love that Mancina has some of the big epic anthem quality of Zimmer, but makes sure to add in some GREAT brass writing (esp. for the trumpets, which Zimmer sadly doesn't seem to know what to do with, despite his often deft use of low brass).

I'm ordering this today for sure! I don't imagine I will see the film until it hits cable. Is the score in film order? If not, anyone know the film order?

I too enjoy it more than the first. More consistent. The Chicken Run bits are a little annoying and I don't love the Cad cues, but otherwise a solid score.

What the heck? I just ordered from Amazon. Planes came with autorip so I could play the score immediately though I ordered a CD. Planes F&R does not. I'll have to await for my order to arrive in the mail it seems.

I think this is a good listen as well. I really liked the first score, but I agree that this one is a little more classical in nature and not as rock oriented as the first one. Having them both makes for a great listen. Love that Mancina has themes and knows how to expertly weave them into the score. I wish he would do more projects!

Planes at Sea (AKA: The Planes Trilogy) scheduled to come out in 2015! I anticipate the third score will be just as good as the first two.

I love these scores. I'm not as sure about the movies.

I haven't seen either movie. They look to jokey for my tastes. Though some of the animation in Fire and Rescue looks awesome.
