I am trying to think of an actor that has a score list as good as Costner's...I think Harrison Ford beats him, and mainly because Star Wars & the Indiana Jones trilogies just can't even be rivaled (plus BladeRunner, Mosquito Coast, Witness, Patriot Games, C&PD, Presumed Innocent & Air Force One are all so great).

SEAN CONNERY

Beats Harrison Ford with ease!

How many cues were still missing from the expanded release? 3 or 4? I would love to see DWW get a complete release some day. But I was very happy when it got the expansion treatment.

Thanks! Quite a bit more than I thought. Wonder how many minutes that missing music adds up to?

Are you talking about "DANCES WITH WOLVES"?

I did a detailed cue inventory some time ago.

There are 66 cues in the film plus two album version tracks ("The John Dunbar Theme" and the original version of "The Buffalo Hunt"), making 68 known cues/tracks.

There could of course be other alternate tracks we don't know about.

Of those 68 known cues/tracks, 34 are on the expanded CD and 34 are not. Yes, that's 50% of the cues.

However, most of the 34 unreleased cues are short cues and many are just short bursts of themes well represented on disc. Even so, there is also some full, original thematic material which is still not represented at all on disc.

The 34 unreleased cues come to 32 minutes of music.

So there you have it. That's the definitive on how much "DANCES WITH WOLVES" is still unreleased.

I know it's traditional to moan about why we don't need a complete "DANCES WITH WOLVES" (but why we do need a complete "insert minor score here"), but for me "DANCES WITH WOLVES" is a goddamn important score and an epic romantic score at that, rich in vivid themes with an intelligent musical narrative crossing a wide dramatic spectrum.

I think it is well worth a 2CD complete edition.

If you want to see my full cue list reconciled with the released albums, then as long as permissions don't get in your way, here's the link.
