Anyone else ga-ga for this recent English police drama which stars Shaun Evans as Inspector Morse as a young detective in the 1960s for the Oxford P.D.? It's a superb period piece as well as being a terrific detective series with a great cast of characters. Unlike the original Morse series in which the episodes were mostly stand-alone, Endeavour is an ongoing story and they left off at the end of season 2 with a whopping cliff-hanger. Hope they'll be going ahead with series 3 very soon.

At first, I was very sceptical about this Morse sequel or rather prequel. However, one chance viewing of the first installement soon convinced me that this was indeed going to be (like the original) a first class series.

The acting (in particular by Roger Allam), plotting, sets, photography are all of superior quality. Any and all Morse fans should not miss this superlative program. Finally, a show I'm actually looking forward to watching. (and mercifully no dumbass shaky cam).

I have not seen even one episode of 'Morse', but last year I took a gamble and rented this from Netflix. Perhaps it's good that I was completely unfamiliar with 'Inspector Morse' and it's characters as this was all totally fresh to me. Masterpiece Mystery Endeavour was truly excellent and I've been waiting for Season 2, but Netflix still to this day hasn't listed it as available. But, when it does arrive, I'll jump on it!

I will have to do my best to avoid news about season 3 though because a key cast member may or may not return, and casting news will spoil that either way.

Anyone else catch the extremely clever allusions to the US television program MAD MEN & ON HER MAJESTY's SECRET SERVICE by Ian Fleming?
