The opening credits of THE MAN WITH ONE RED SHOE are pretty neat, too.
At least two other great themes from that film, the Tangerine Dream-like "Airport Scene" and the "Love Theme" on the end credits, composed by Michael Masser.

The problem, as I'm finding as I work in the business side of things in the soundtrack world is simple, comedies just don't sell very good.
I agree that Thomas Newman is really not represented in the limited edition part of all of this and I'd LOVE to see some more of his stuff out, especially the earlier stuff. I think labels would be interested in some Thomas Newman stuff, but I think some may be too nervous that they just wouldn't sell much. I disagree, because we're talking about THOMAS NEWMAN. Granted I don't think a 5000 run would suffice, but maybe a 1000 pressing of some stuff might work. I really think a box set of his 80's stuff would be killer!
Like I said, comedies just don't sell good at all which is sad so the amount of money to release it, licensing etc. etc. in the end the labels may not make much to any money back which of course prevents them from doing some projects.
The fact that Police Academy hasn't sold out is SHOCKING. One of THE best comedy scores ever, PERIOD. That theme is so darn recognizable, so if you haven't picked that up, PLEASE DO! It's from La-La Land Records of course

I'm not terribly familiar with Newman;s work from the period, but I would probably spring for Jumpin' Jack Flash, Real Genius, and an expanded Desperately Seeking Susan, just based on the titles.

I'm a huge Tom Newman fan, and would really love to have an official score from 'Men Don't Leave' (1990). Never even seen the film, but what I've heard of the score (from a b**t, sorry) is absolutely wonderful!

Is there more music to be mined from "Desperately Seeking Susan"? I haven't seen the film in years and years (and years), but it was sparsely scored.
I doubt it. Varese even had to add Chaz Jankel's Making Mr. Right to the CD.

I love Newman's work, and would welcome the chance to hear those early titles you mentioned, Peter, with none of which am I familiar.
