I can't wait until we get to Vol.4 (or Vol.5??) with the restyled New Batman Adventures/Gotham Knights episodes. I loved Walker's music from episodes like "Double Talk" (that flute melody), "Never Fear" (Scarecrow's scary new theme, which sounds like nothing Walker had written before on BTAS), "You Scratch My Back" (Nightwing's Theme)....and many more.

Apparently the plan is to give The Adventures of Batman and Robin and The New Batman Adventures their own releases. So the scores you're talking about would be on 'volume 5' aka TNBA.

July 1, 2012:

While working on Vol 2 a number of episodes of the first "65" got the axe and will be featured on Vol 3: Robin's Reckoning Parts 1 and 2, Day of the Samurai and The Clock King to name a few.

Our plan is to have Vol 3 out next year (possibly another 4 disc set). That would be all the music we would release from the first 65. We are also contemplating releasing an empty box when vol 3 comes out so people can put all 3 volumes inside. It would be like $5 (or around there) if people wanted to buy it separately or free with purchase of Vol 3...something like that.

Then we would focus on the "Adventures of Batman and Robin" and "The New Batman Adventures."

Hopefully, Superman TAS, Justice League (TAS and Unlimited) and the two BTAS animated direct to DVD movies (Subzero and Batwoman) will also see the light of day in the next few years.

This is some of the finest music written for television. It's been a joy and honor to bring these out and we hope to continue to mine this incredible slate of superhero music.

We are also looking into stuff like Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. The ealry 90's was truly the 2nd Golden Age of Animation at Warners Bros. We are doing our part to preserve that legacy.

MV

I asked about the box a couple weeks ago and MV said it wasn't happening now.

Maybe the box will happen once they feel they've released enough music from the entire run (including TAoB&R and TNBA).

I would surmise the different spinoff shows will be given their own series entirely. If the fourth release covers the short-lived Adventures of Batman and Robin, it will likely be a single release of its own and not "Volume 4."

Yep, that's what I mean. As you say, we shouldn't expect it to literally be called volume 4, as it would be a stand-alone release covering some or all of the 20 TAoB&R episodes. I just mean that it would technically be the fourth release of music from the overall series (unless LLL does an actual volume 4 in the meantime to finish off the first 65 episodes).

Yes, and despite what MV said some of us would like to hold out hope that after all is said and done, a Volume 4 of the original run might actually happen.

I want to reiterate how amazingly lucky we are that music from these cartoons are even seeing the light of day. Before I would have never thought Batman TAS or Superman TAS would be released.

It just goes to show that LLL is the best label that actually listens to its fanbase. Hopefully, when certain person(s) over at WB are gone LLL can finally complete their Batman film saga with Batman & Robin.

Yes! Batman TAS was a show I always wanted to hear the music from, it was so refreshing seeing a cartoon scored almost like a motion picture. I'll gladly add volume 3 to the current sets I own, excellent news.

In the same way that volume 2 had a slightly unusual (for B:TAS) score in the form of "The Demon's Quest", it looks like there might be some interesting departures on this set. "The Forgotten", "Tyger, Tyger" and "Day of the Samurai", for instance, if they make the cut. None of them are your typical B:TAS score. All three would be welcome additions to volume 3, but I hope "Night of the Ninja" and "Moon of the Wolf" are not included, because I'd like the more familiar musical style of B:TAS to be showcased as much as possible on this set. (Not a fan of either of those two scores anyway, especially not "Moon of the Wolf".)

Since they're not covering anymore of the scores from the original 65, I hope the following scores, personal favorites/general favorites, make the cut, otherwise I'm going to be wishing they turn up one day:

"Zatanna"
"A Bullet for Bullock"
"Cat Scratch Fever"
"Dreams in Darkness" (an unusually dark score)
"Second Chance"
"Heart of Steel -- Part 1"
"Heart of Steel -- Part 2"
"Time Out of Joint"
"The Lion and the Unicorn"
"I Am the Night"
"Avatar" (which has a good bit of score dropped from the episode)
"The Clock King" (it's baffeling he didn't get more work, too)
"Day of the Samurai"
"Robin's Reckoning -- Part 1"
"Robin's Reckoning -- Part 2" (the best one; wish Tomashek had gotten more work)
"The Forgotten"
"Mudslide"

Yes, I may have missing a couple; this was a quick list.

And yes, I know it's fruitless, but I want the rest of the score from the two-parter "Two Face".

"A Bullet for Bullock" is easily one of my favorites.

Also anything with the Nightwing theme, though I gather that won't happen until "volume 4".

A Bullet for Bullock, Second Chance, Time Out of Joint, The Lion and the Unicorn, and Avatar are all from the second production run, not the original 65. They would most likely be released under the umbrella of THE ADVENTURES OF BATMAN & ROBIN. Nightwing does not show up until the revamped spinoff, THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES.

I know that many fans have asked about a hypothetical BTAS Vol. 4 that would complete the original 65. Cool as that would be, I can't make promises. I CAN tell you that everyone is working hard right now to make sure Vol. 3 is as awesome as it can be! smile

If Volume 3 is another four discs, it will include approximately 21 episodes, bringing the three-volume total to 53. That would leave 12 episodes remaining.

I used to think I'd be satisfied with that and I probably would be, but the thought of completing the series, since others have brought it up, really does make sense. It would require another two, maybe three discs. For that matter, releasing the full Adventures of Batman and Robin (20 episodes) would be about four discs.

Releasing all 85 shows sounds like a lot, and it is, but it seems doable and would really justify the rare exception to television. In juxtaposing quality and episode count, not many shows deserve consideration for a full series release. Star Trek TOS is one. Batman TAS seems like another. I hope it happens.

In fairness, the remaining cues from "Two-Face", "Perchance to Dream" and "Vendetta" wouldn't take up much disc space... "Perchance to Dream" has one of my favourite scores so I'm clinging to the hope of at least getting the rest of that one, but there's some fine unreleased material in both "Vendetta" and "Two-Face" as well. I hope to see them on volume 3, but I don't know if there's much chance of that.

Since the rights have been cleared for the blu-ray, any word if LaLa or anyone else could be doing a soundtrack for the original 1966 series? The 66 movie soundtrack is great, but I think it's missing some nice elements from the show, like scene transition music if I remember correctly.
