Last year Desplat was announced for 'Beauty and the Beast' which ended up in the hands of Pierre Adenot. He was also announced for the french animated film 'The Little Prince' and the WW2-drama 'Suite Francaise' but according to IMDB he is no longer attached to these films, there 's not even a composer listed right now. These announcements were made on Filmmusicreporter so they were to be taken seriously. Anybody know what happened? Of course he has taken on 'The Imitation Game' and 'Unbroken'.

Man, he's going to have to step it up if he wants to maintain his nine film per year average...

FilmMusicReporter.com did not report "The Little Prince"; that was the Desplat fansite, and it was not confirmed, only "he should" score it -- a guess.

Ok, my mistake, I really thought I read it on FMR. He was reported for the other two though.

Bump. Here's confirmation of Desplat scoring The Little Prince (straight from the film's company):

"LITTLE PRINCE, THE 3D
PETIT PRINCE, LE
Genre Adventure/Animation
Director Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda)
Country France / USA
Production Year 2013
Producer Jinko Gotoh
Distributor Paramount Pictures Corporation
Budget 80M

Based on the world famous story, The Little Prince, by Antoine De Saint-Exupery comes a revitalized and cinematic version in 3D.

Character design from Peter De Seve (ICE AGE, FINDING NEMO, TARZAN, A BUG’S LIFE, MULAN), Head of Story is Bob Persichetti (PUSS N’ BOOTS, SHREK 2),
VFX master Alex Parkinson (KUNG FU PANDA, HARRY POTTER), and Alexandre Desplat is in charge of
Music (ARGO, KING’S SPEECH, BENJAMIN BUTTON)"

Since Mark Osbourne did Kung Fu Panda, I assume that Dreamworks recommended him to hire Desplat given that he did Rise of the Guardians for them (and the film has some people who did other previous films for Dreamworks).

Also, Desplat was replaced in Suite Francaise.
