Does anyone know for sure if the master/dat tapes still exist for this film? I saw some old posts on this forum that perhaps they do but I have contacted Varese and Intrada and both say that the master tapes were lost and that there is no nope. I wonder if Bill even saved a copy for himself?

I hope one day the soundtrack will be released.

If Intrada said that the tapes are missing, then I think that is as definitive of an answer that you'll get.

Intrada would likely know if Conti had any copies, because they've used his collection for other albums. Portions of Bad Boys and Five Days from Home are two examples.

Conan's tapes were also lost...

Well, that was the odd thing: we were told that over the year, but Intrada said they looked and the tapes were right there in the shelf. Perhaps whomever mislead us, meant Basil's personally copies.

But Intrada has looked for this Conti and not found it. I recall there were three others they couldn't find.

Such a shame it's lost, it's such a catchy fun score.

Maybe Conti could re-record BABY BOOM?

It would be terrific if Conti could re-record the score but where would the money come from? MGM isn't going to finance it and I know varese, intrada, fsm, la la land wont.

Anyone want to start a kickstarter campaign?

:-D

Varese did it with Conti's THE RIGHT STUFF/NORTH AND SOUTH album!

Those were different times and those scores are much more marketable than Baby Boom.

Sorry, Henry, to fund that re-recording you will either have to win a very generous lottery or start making the right contacts and work your way up to become a grossly overpaid corporate executive.

Well I put some money from every one of my paychecks into it, I've already raised $10!

At this rate we should have the money raised just ten years after the Earth crashes into the sun.

I hope you know I'm kidding. Everyone takes me so seriously here.

Keep in mind what I said earlier...nearly the entire thing is at MGM in 2" format...just missing a reel or two. It's expensive to mix that format just to find there are key tracks missing.

Missing music has not stopped Intrada from releasing stuff before....

Unfortunately this score is probably not popular enough for a re-recording. On top of this, I doubt it has enough music fill a CD.

What about an isolated score track on a Blu-ray release?

Any soundtrack release of Baby Boom better include the Burt Bacharach song Everchanging Times which was written for the film and is featured quite prominently.
