Was really looking forward to the return of the world's worst newscaster (Burgundy) and the worst radio/tv host (Partridge).
ANCHORMAN 2 & ALAN PARTRIDGE were major disappointments.
They each had bits that were funny, to be sure : the conceit that Burgundy invented "info-tainment'. LOL! ANd, I loved how the Farrell character was always referrred to as being "Irish" LOL>
But, all in all they failed to live up to their predecessors..
Any other fans bummed out?

ps yeah, i know ANCHORMAN is technically a 2013 film. Bite me!

So is Alan Partridge ....I agree with you over Anchorman - just couldn't understand the problem this time round....but I vehemently disagree with you over Alpha Papa...ain't life grand when we have different tastes

The 'problem' was they did a less funny remake of the first film > Also, this time there was no heart - i.e. empathy for Burgundy's fall from grace. ANd, why do they think Carrel's Brick is funny? He is not! bruce
I think so, but only quite recently....but would American audiences get the fact that it is just the latest chapter in a character's life that we have seen develop for over two decades....I don't know....part of the reason I love the movie is because I love the character and how he is written....there are quite a few nods in the movie to his previous exploits...perhaps it is all a bit....I don't know....vague if it is not someone you have followed? Funnily enough, perhaps because of my enjoyment of the character, Alpha Papa is a movie I have a very, very difficult time coming up with an objective opinion of. I couldn't review it if I were paid to, I don't think...

I am a HUGE AP fan but the film really made me uncomfortable. For an American, watching a film where the plot revolves around a hostage situation is just too close to home to be funny brm

I think the problem is that they like to improvise, they probably had a great time on set, but in the cold light of day the scenes go on forever & are painfully unfunny.
