Looks like Golan understood the power and importance of good movie scoring, to judge by the great composers he hired over the years. However, I think if you asked moviegoers in Israel for a favorite "Golan" score, they'd probably mention the most successful Israeli musical film ever, (I don't know the second-most-successful Israeli musical ever -- anybody?): "Kazablan" (1974), from the Israeli stage success, music by prolific Israeli movie composer Dov Seltzer.

Here's a hit song from the movie adaptation, with English subtitles:

In an attempt at international success, Golan also pre-recorded the musical numbers in, and shot the whole film in, English.

"Kazablan" was recognized with two Golden Globe nominations, Best Foreign Film and Best Song. Here's the nominated song, "Rosa":

Over The Top (Giorgio Moroder), and a pity the best Moroder track isn't on the CD, but only
a b-side
here it is

Yes, brilliant track. Credit to Brian Banks and Anthony Marinelli too.

No love, then, for BOLERO, by Peter Bernstein, with input (and conducting duties, done in Rome) from his dad Elmer... ?

Nice record from Varese Sarabande at the time; and also on the Milan label (the latter a fold-out with lots of pics of Bo Derek in various states of undress).
