WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---photos leaked showing the interior of the Millennium Falcon. Also, Harrison Ford appeared to have recovered from his set injury when he appeared at the premiere of THE EXPENDABLES 3.

BEN-HUR---Tim Hiddleston (THOR) is the top candidate to star in the Timur Bekmambetov/MGM movie. Charlton Heston played the role in the 1959 movie.

GAME OF THRONES---George RR Martin said a few fans have predicted how the novel series will end, "So many readers were reading the books with so much attention that they were throwing up some theories and while some of those theories were amusing bulls--t—and creative—some of the theories are right. At least one or two readers had put together the extremely subtle and obscure clues that I'd planted in the books and came to the right solution."
He said about changing the ending with two novels left, "I've wrestled with this issue, because I do want to surprise my readers. I hate predictable fiction as a reader...I wrestled with that issue and I came to the conclusion that changing it would be a disaster, because the clues were there. You can't do that, so I'm just going to go ahead. Some of my readers who don't read the boards, which thankfully there are hundreds of thousands of them, will still be surprised and other readers will say: ‘See, I said that four years ago, I'm smarter than you guys.'"

CRIMINAL---Gal Gadot (FAST & FURIOUS, BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE) will co-star with Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones and Ryan Reynolds in this movie about a criminal who is implanted with the memory of a dead CIA agent so he can complete the agent's mission.

GOD FEARING MAN---Michael C. Hall (DEXTER) stars in this miniseries based on the unproduced Stanley Kubrick screenplay about Canadian minister Herbert Emerson Wilson who became a notorious US bank robber in the early 20th century.

THE INHUMANS---reportedly, the script for the Marvel Studios movie was written by Joe Robert Cole. Vin Diesel hinted he will be in the movie.

AQUAMAN---Warner Bros. has two scripts for the DC Comics superhero. The scripts were written by Will Beall (GANGSTER SQUAD) and Kurt Johnstad (300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE).

THE ONE PERCENT---Starz ordered ten episodes of the series from Alejandro Inarritu (BABEL) starring Hillary Swank, Ed Helms and Ed Harris in which a dysfunctional family tries to save its organic farm from going under.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES---Jack Huston (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) will co-star in the zombie movie.

MARY SHELLEY'S MONSTER---Mary Shelley biomovie underway starring Sophie Turner (GAME OF THRONES), Jeremy Irvine (WAR HORSE) and Taissa Farmiga (AMERICAN HORROR STORY).

THE FINISHER---Sony Pictures movie underway based on the novel about a 14-year-old girl who seeks the truth about her town of Wormwood and the surrounding forest where monsters dwell.

PLAY IT AGAIN, DICK---VERONICA MARS web spin-off series on CW Seed featuring Dick Casablancas with Ryan Hansen, Kristen Bell and Enrico Colantoni.

I suppose Ben-Hur is ripe for a re-make (after all, the Heston version was a re-make). The trouble is (& there's nothing they can do about it) it will be a CGI special, a cast of thousands...of computer pixels. I hope they can get Zimmer to compose some wailing music, & maybe it's best to wind out about 50% of the colour.

As you can tell, I'm not exactly waiting for this smile

Yeah, I don't mind a remake of Ben-Hur (wasn't there one on TV a few years back, even?) but seeing as Timur Bekmambetov has yet to make anything better than mediocre and has a couple genuinely terrible movies under his belt, I will not be seeing this one.

That man is a wretched director, but crap sells these days.

Since no one said the obvious. "What a piece of junk!"

Since no one said the obvious. "What a piece of junk!"

That's just one opinion.

"A bucket of bolts," was the other one. Mind you, without any nuts it's no wonder Solo willed the ship to hold together.
