I missed out on this when first released, but luckily found one on Amazon for the original Intrada price. So happy I found it.
For me this is one of the Maestro's more exciting scores and especially the Main Theme. It just rocks. I tend not to like more of his abstract atonal works, which all kind of sounds the same in that style from score to score. I enjoy a lot of his music in BENEATH and BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES and his STAR TREK IV score was also a refreshing change of pace for that Film Series. I really like his CROSS CREEK score. I think I can listen to his HELLFIGHTERS Main Title Theme on an endless loop for days. It's just that good for me!
What are your thoughts on HELLFIGHTERS and what are your other favorite Leonard Rosenman Scores?
I had been thinking about this score for the last week. Definitely a great score. I love the theme, and overall stylings by Rosenman. I shall now play the score.
Yes TR, I do like it and maybe because it sounds less like the atonal Rosenman and like he tried something different. The Main Title actually sounds like something Mancini might have done. Sorry to keep comparing him. It's just that my personal faves were always the Goldsmith, Bernstein and Williams stuff. I like the action stuff within the clip too.
REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and EAST OF EDEN are also very nice by Rosenman!
sort of turns generic westernish, maybe to suit John Wayne? The initial strong beat reminded me of "Keeper of the City" which I would recommend except that when I was looking for a sample of the main theme, I read a review that perhaps it's not highly regarded (yet I still like it): http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/keeper_city.html
