MONDAY, AUGUST 18 STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---spoiler alert (see below). DOCTOR WHO---a British tabloid claims Jenna Coleman will leave the series during the Christmas special. The tabloid source said, "The conversations about Jenna's exit have started, and a plan is in place which is being ironed out. By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. She has been absolutely brilliant in the role, but everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period. It was very much a mutual decision. It's important to keep the series moving and fast-paced, and the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline." RAMBO 5---Sylvester Stallone said the latest sequel is underway, “I’m getting ready for [RAMBO 5]. I’m starting to work out. I’m going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart. Smart, yet stupid. Tall, yet short. Broad, but thin. You know what I mean. We’re going to try to cover all the boundaries.” The plot reportedly involves Rambo saving a young girl from a Mexican drug cartel. GEOSTORM---Dean Devlin (INDEPENDENCE DAY) sci-fi movie underway starring Gerard Butler. A satellite engineer and his estranged brother travel into space to save Earth from a weather apocalypse after climate-control satellites malfunction. They then discover a plot to assassinate the President. Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris, Andy Garcia and Abbie Cornish are in talks to co-star. SYFY---two new miniseries are underway based on sci-fi novels. CHILDHOOD'S END---six-hour miniseries underway based on the Arthur C. Clarke novel in which Earth becomes a utopia after a friendly alien invasion. The script is by Matthew Graham (DOCTOR WHO, LIFE ON MARS). RINGWORLD---four-hour miniseries based on the novel in which explorers travel to a distant massive alien artifact that might save Earth from doom. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON---Stellan Skarsgard confirmed he's returning as Dr. Erik Selvig, "I'm going to be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, a small appearance...First of all, I don't know what I'm allowed to say, but usually they call me in if they need something explained. There's a lot of explanations to do when it comes to that universe." MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5---director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed Ving Rhames is returning for the sequel. * * * * * * * * STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---rumors claim the sequel has Luke Skywalker being captured by the evil Inquisitors and then escapes. This occurs after RETURN OF THE JEDI. The source said, "The Inquisitors are defenders of the Sith Order and they've been around for a long time. Just how long is what turns Episode VII's story on its head". A flashback set before the original STAR WARS has Darth Vader and Princess Leia played by Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourde. A second source revealed concept art of the leader of the Inquisitors and added, "It's true that the main villain of Episode VII is a Sith Inquisitor. He's tall and thin and terrifyingly creepy, with glowing red eyes to match his red lightsaber. He's got some robotic upgrades, like Vader – but no mask. The cybernetic bits weave in and out of him. He's got a human upper lip, a steel jaw… and the robotic hand that JJ Abrams posted an image of." Another rumor said there will be a planet of ice and forests where Snowtroopers are building a new superweapon. A source said, "According to my sources Han and Chewie are piloting a Super Star Destroyer. I believe the [Millennium] Falcon is in the hands of Oscar Isaac's character, who is very much the Lando Calrissian of this movie – all the way down to wearing a cape." Also, concept art was released showing Han Solo's clothing from the sequel.

By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. Which should mean she should be on the show for quite some time. She only did part of the last season and a few specials. So far Karen Gillan has been the longest standing with 2 and a half series. Billie Piper second at 2 full series and a few appearances after. Coleman has a while to go before beating that.

The plot reportedly involves Rambo saving a young girl from a Mexican drug cartel Great. More ethnic minorities for the lumbering fool to massacre with the thinnest possible licence. Gee, I remember the good ol' days when Rambo was giving hell to American rednecks just for frisking him in the wrong way. Sadly, such types probably constitute the movie's target demographic these days. That script was around well before Rambo IV got started. I personally think this pitch of a mexican drug cartel is not worthy of a Rambo movie. Yes, I am one of the rednecks who loves Sly in this role (call it kid's nostalgia). The last movie took on a mostly obscure conflict, I feel that with a Mexico situation people wont find the material as politically incorrect as parts II & III were. It's obvious Sly doesn't want to do the US vs ... story any longer, the patriotic side of Rambo that was so prevalent in the 80s (and in the latest movie almost verboten), because I believe he wont be able to market the movie outside of the US. I say send Rambo to the middle east to get the Taliban or now even Isis, not some petty mexican drug cartel of the week I can see on 24 or re-runs of the A-team. I always thought Stallone could end the RAMBO series with how the it all started - maybe RAMBO trying to make peace with himself, trying to live a normal life, only to find himself up against a retired Teasle (Brian Dennehy) seeking revenge on Rambo or something like that. Hell, I'd go see that kind of a RAMBO movie - it would bring it "Full Circle"...:-)
