I like what Brian Tyler did with his score for JOHN RAMBO. I think it honored the series and Goldsmith and his new original music was very good and enjoyable and really felt part of the whole of RAMBO.

Goldsmith had said that before Rambo 3 so I think it was more Rambo 2 that earned him the big bucks to buy his house.
That said I am torn between Rambo 2's massive action cues and the emotional and powerful first score. But still love the third score for its change of direction and new themes.
Three? My favourite is out of the above list. Best score from a Rambo movie is the outstanding Il giustiziere sfida la città (Syndicate Sadists) by Franco Micalizzi. So my ranking is
1) Il giustiziere... 2) Rambo II 3) First Blood 4) Rambo III 5) John Rambo

Yeah out of Jerry's original scores. I won't count Tyler's.
Love Goldsmith, and the Rambo trilogy are some of my favorite scores.
1) First Blood 2) Rambo III 3) First Blood Part 2
I used to think FBPt2 was the best for years, but have changed my mind in recent years. The Rambo III score is so rich, and the first and last cues are so emotional and provide so much heart and closure.

The original still blows me away to this day.
Too bad III wasn't recorded with the National Philharmonic Orchestra. If so, the decision to put one score above some of the others would be a tough call.
I'm talking about the representation of the score on the CD here: The list goes like this:
1) Rambo: First Blood Part 2 2) Rambo III 3) First Blood
In terms of the films themselves, and not worrying about the music - the list is slightly different:
1) Rambo: First Blood Part 2 2) First Blood 3) Rambo III
....I saw the fourth film once, and I didn't enjoy it (or the score).
The second film is the best of the series, but I always need to watch the first one before seeing the second, so they are pretty much "tied" together as films, but the score to the second film, is one of Jerry's best!
Reminds me of this Michael Caine quote regarding Jaws 4: The Revenge - "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
