I went through a box of Kleenex. This tribute by Bear McCreary really honors Elmer Bernstein. How lovely. It also shows what a kind and caring man Elmer Bernstein was in his life.

Wow. Heart-breaking. Joyous. This tells you exactly the kind of man Bear McCreary is. How lucky we are to have him in our musical lives.

Thank you ! What an astounding account. Of all the wonderful composers I have met during my sixty some years I talked to Elmer the most. At first I thought that was a coincidence but then I realized, of all of them, Elmer GAVE the most. He made you feel those little talks were valuable. Not just to YOU being able to speak to an American icon but to him because you got the sense he learned something from everybody he met and he was going to make the most of this time he had with you. That and he was the nicest composer I ever met, and considering some of the things he had been through, I always wondered how he got that way. It is also evident to me from your tribute as long as the memories are there and, more importantly, his music is played the ripples from this one man's life will continue on and on in all directions.
