Synopsis: In this chilling film based on the hit BBC-TV serial The Quatermass Experiment, a rocket ship returns to earth with a frightening surprise on board. Two of the ship's three astronauts have mysteriously vanished, while the third, Victor Carroon, is sick with an unidentifiable illness. While doctors try to help Victor recover, an investigation takes place to figure out just what happened to his comrades. As it turns out, Carroon's body has been taken over by an alien fungus that needs blood to survive. After the astronaut escapes from the hospital, he transforms into a monster, attacking everyone who gets in its way. Meanwhile, Scotland Yard detective Lomax and Quatermass, a determined scientist, attempt to track down the creature before it finds new victims. Also known as The Creeping Unknown.

It surprises me that TALES OF TERROR is having a separate release. I expected it to be included in a future "Vincent Price Collection " volume.

Maybe Scream were a bit slow in securing it. It looks like a fire sale at MGM, so many titles licensed out by so many small companies. Some transfers very good, some not so good. Still waiting for The Vikings to turn up somewhere.

So true. There are Blu-rays being issued by Shout/Scream Factory, Kino-Lorber, Twilight Time, and MGM itself. Any others?

In the UK there's Arrow (I have the lovely Vincent Price box set), & a lot of United Artist films are released on Blu-ray in France & Germany. The last one I bought from Germany was the western, Valdez Is Coming, very nice.

I'm interested in this, too. But this Cohen Film Collection group seems to likely have the blu-ray rights, if they are already putting it out on DVD..

If anyone is interested, I see Amazon is selling some of the first wave of Kino-Lorber blu-rays for $12.49.

That's a pretty good price.

This was released in the UK under the title of The City Under The Sea, on a double bill with The Mask Of Fu Manchu. It's bargain basement stuff, but quite enjoyable. If it ever gets a region B release, I'll buy it.

At long freakin' last, Kino-Lorber will be releasing 1982's The Challenge. Directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Scott Glenn. It's taken just about forever, but it's finally being released.

Oh goodie, thanks for the news Greg! I hear this CD so often, I always wish I could see
the film again, aside from a lousy VHS transfer I made way too long ago :-/
