It's all for a good cause and donations are going through the roof in a short period of time. But I would hesitate to allow anyone in ill shape and over a certain age to participate. It only takes one to have a sudden heart attack from the shock. I'm amazed this hasn't happened to a couch on a football field yet.

It is a good cause, but I am sick of hearing about it.

Seems like a good way to raise awareness, and I bet other charities are planning something similar now. I'm a bit tired of seeing it pop up on my Facebook and Twitter feeds, personally, but good for people who enjoy it and good for the charity that benefits.

Charity or not, once you have seen 3 you have seen a 100.
Its getting incredibly tedious.

Someone can post a clip nominating Tom cruise, barack obama and that well known writer actor broadcaster journalist producer director and extra on the set of Solomon and Sheba and disgraceful misery guts Bill carson if they like.

It's a text book case showing how most human beings by nature are "followers". In this case it's a positive.

Someone already nominated him (and he did it).

Actually, Hans Zimmer just did it after having been challenged by Ron Howard.

For me, this is just another one of those internet trends that come and go. I refuse to take part of it, even if it's for a good cause.

The internet is getting to be very creepy. Extreme behavior knows no limits. The robot-like acquiessence being forced down everyone's throat strikes me as a levelling of the already level playing field. People are unwittingly adopting what at first seems to be a reasonable behavioral standard. In being marched out into the open, you have to adopt the same position as everyone else and if you don't comply the impression given is one of being unreasonable. All for the sake of appearances. The result is regimented behavior. It's unsettling.

Good point grecchus.
Yep heaven help anyone who doesnt fall into line. Baaaa.

In the meantime, one wonders how this rather tiresome craze will evolve?
For instance somebody did it at my club yesterday with a large heavy metal soup cauldron.
Funniest part was his mate could barely lift it once theyd filled it with water and was in danger of dropping it on his head!
So how long before the first ice bucket injury?
And when will people start getting bored with. Iced water?
Whats next? The Beer bucket challenge? Maybe some idiot will try it with boiling water??!

If you check the news I think you'll find there have been injuries sustained by those getting into line. A couple of firemen were accidentally electrocuted.
