Hello
does anybody know if the ful soundtrack of Lelouch's movie/TV series, that at the time was issued in France in a box of 3 LPs, has ever been released on CD?
(I have tried to transfer them to CD myself, but I am not happy with the results, and the only CD release I can find is a selection on one disc only)
Thanks

Cesare

No, only the one CD (Distribution MD Diffusion Paris) edition is the only one on CD that am aware of.
Wasn't aware of a 3 LP edition. Thought was a 2LP edition.
What was content of 3rd LP?

Alex

Interesting - it has all the score tracks and the songs of the 3 LP set, although it is missing the contents of side B of the last disc, which had performances of cassical music - music that is available in countless other editions, but these were the excellent performances conducted by Legrand or played on the piano by Eric Berchaud that were used in the film.

This is the LP set:

Great cover artwork for the Japanese CD.

I have this OST only on vinyl (the RCA 2LP edition, one of my very first purchases many years ago). I would really like to get a nice and complete CD edition (most preferably with all the tracks including the Legrand renditions of classical pieces).

There used to be several Francis Lai soundtrack releases coming from Japan; nowadays, just about no one seems to be interested in releasing his music in any country, which is really a shame.

I am not that fond of Francis Lai (although I like some of his soundtracks) but I love anything written or orchestrated or conducted by Michel Legrand - I hope the full "les Uns et les Autres" set is eventually transferred to digital (maybe in the "Ecoutez le Cinéma" series?)

Ten years ago, there was the 14-CD French set "The Francis Lai Story." In 2008, FSM's MGM Soundtrack Treasury Box included Lai's HANNIBAL BROOKS. More recently, Kritzerland released ANOTHER MAN, ANOTHER CHANCE and A MAN AND A WOMAN. In 2011, Playtime in France released the 2-CD compilation "Claude Lelouch - Francis Lai: L'Intégrale." And in 2012, Music Box released VISIT TO A CHIEF'S SON.

And of course there are also releases of Lai's current scores such as Ces amours-la or Salaud on t'aime. I have all of these (except for the 14CD box and the Playtime compilation) smile But in my opinion there are still many more Lai scores worth releasing.

I am on the contrary selective with Legrand (being very fond of part of his output but not all of his stuff) but I like most of the scores by Francis Lai. Les uns et les autres was a successful soundtrack back in its day so it is possible that Ecoutez le Cinéma might tackle it (though they've been mostly avoiding Francis Lai so far). The film is just 2 years shy of 35th anniversary so we never know. I would definitely buy a complete release.
