I visited LA every other year from the late 1970's through 1995. I thought that Aron's was more fun on Highland than it was on Melrose. I still have Brian Burney's business card, from when he was the manager of A-1 Record Finders. It was a private business for years, and then opened to the public in the early nineties. It was more of a record warehouse than a retail store. I remember Dan Alvira (sp?) from Music and Memories, a heavy set man. That store moved twice in the years that I patronized it (in other words, three different locations, all in the North Hollywood area). Other favorite LA record stores of mine: Record Surplus Counterpoint Disc-Connection Rhino Records Rockaway Records on Glendale Blvd. My favorite store was in El Cerrito, Downhome Music. Sad to say that many of my old haunts are probably long gone by now. I used to buy, sell, and trade used records from Vancouver, B.C. down to LA.
