Quartet Records is glad to present its new release

SUMMER RENTAL / CRITICAL CONDITION
Music Composed and Conducted by Alan Silvestri
Limited Edition of 1000 units
Release date: 08/26/2014

World premiere release of two eighties comedy scores composed by legendary American composer Alan Silvestri (The Delta Force, Romancing the Stone, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cosmos)

Summer Rental (1985) was directed by Carl Reiner (Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, The Man With Two Brains, That Old Feeling) and starred John Candy, Richard Crenna and Rip Thorn. For this comedy, Silvestri provided a hot and catchy Caribbean sound along with full-orchestral action cues.

Critical Condition (1987), a successful vehicle for the late actor Richard Pryor, was directed by Michael Apted (Gorky Park, Class Action, Nell). The short score by Alan Silvestri has been eagerly requested by collectors over the years, but has remained unreleased until now. This score belongs to the era when the composer was making the most use of electronics, mixing Synclavier, saxophone and full orchestra in some passages.

Both scores have been sourced from stereo session masters vaulted at Paramount Pictures and sound stunning. Package includes a full-color 12-page booklet with liner notes by Andy Dursin.

This release of Summer Rental and Critical Condition fills a sizable gap from the breakthrough period in Alan Silvestri’s film scoring career. The collective energy of the two scores is simply, undeniably infectious.

This title is available for order and shipping from now. Please visit www.quartetrecords.com

Awesome! I LOVE Silvestri's 80's sound -- both the synths and the orchestral.

And I also like it when labels focus on previously unreleased scores rather than the gazillionth expansion.

So thumbs up for this!

Ordered me some 80's Silvestri...

Hope Quartet can break free Silvestri's AMERICAN ANTHEM.

Not to take anything away from this new release, but AMERICAN ANTHEM definitely thirded. It's got everything folks love about 80's Silvestri in one place - big, showy orchestral pieces, a bit of that moody choir, and some nice synth pop tracks.

In any event, congrats Quartet on another fine release!

As for American Anthem, does Quartet even work with Warner Bros. and Warner Music? It seems that you'll have to wait for Intrada or La-La Land to get around to that one.

Great release indeed. But for me I do hope that it does not sell out too quickly since I cannot order this until after my "little" trip to FFM5. So when I get back home after my visit to L.A. then I hope it is still available so I can order it then.

Wow what a pleasant surprise, i never thought this music would have ever receive a release. Summer rental is one of my favorite (80's/ Synth.) Silvestri scores. And only a 1000 copies i think this will sell out fast. Thanks Quartet!

What a nice surprise! I watched Summer Rental a few weeks ago and it had been years since I'd seen that movie and I realized what a fun score Silvestri wrote. The samples sound great. Love that Quartet is releasing these great little 80's gems!

Guess I'll have another overdraft... I've got the end title as taped off a BBC1 screening of Critical Condition* (good luck getting away with some of the jokes in that today, like our hero seeing a sexy female patient and being turned on until she says "I have AIDS"). It'll be nice to have the rest of it.

*From the days when they didn't muck about with the credits. Ah, memories.

I remember loving the Critical Condition opening theme when I heard it in the early 90s.

But listening to the samples, Summer Rental maybe sounds more interesting.

That is so horribly funny, in a most dated way.
